It's been 3 years since we purchased the first transom fender and it has failed us. With a split it is un-repairable. I expect more life from these fenders than 36 months. I purchased a second transom fender later in the year so if the same problem arises they will be a total disappointment. We now have a 44' boat and use two of these fenders on the swim step. They do work very well. Some of our friends have copied the way I attach them using the Perko fender locks.

Update April 2015: Well, the second one has failed in the exact same place as the first one -- where the fender meets the edge of the swim step (See Picture). It just took a year longer. This tells me it is a design flaw, and the fenders are not worth the money unless you use them occasionally a couple times a year. After the first one failed, there was a question if it had proper inflation. I was very diligent in maintaining the pressure, but that didn't seem to help. It still failed big time.
To add to the frustration, I purchased the third fender to replace the first broken one. What I see in the near future is I will have 3 dead fenders.
I wrote to Taylormade but no reply.
