Had no trouble installing this item. Directions were good if you make sure to read them all. Holds up great.

Can light converter

It has covered up the edge of the opening from the builder's ceiling light. I've not needed the converter kits though and will not be able to return them.

Gave me the chance to install a new and really light for my dining place

Dining light

It was hard to install. Did not work well in our existing can light and we had to modify things.

Need different size options.

Very little instructions.   It's a lot of trying to figure out things for yourself.   Wouldn't buy again.

I spent about 5 hours installing this, and I have put up dozens of lighting fixtures.  The self drilling screws were not long enough--had to hunt new screws.  The threaded pipe was too long and I did not discover this until it was too late.  I shined a flashlight toward the top of the can and saw that the sharp end of the threaded  pipe was chewing through the wires.  The ground wire was completely exposed.  Fortunately the red and black wires were ok.  Some of the holes in the support plate were drilled too big for a standard 8/32" screw.  Poor manufacturing!  The edge of the round support plate was sharp.  Also poor manufacturing.  This is definitely not the way it went on Youtube.  The directions for installing for track lights were completely wrong.
The ultimate problem was that, when I finally got the light installed after 5 hours of frustration, nothing happened when I flicked on the switch!  I had to take EVERYTHING apart and finally determined that the part that screws into the light socket was not conducting electricity!  When I took that part out and put the light bulb back, the light bulb worked fine.  There is something in the screw-in part that did not make contact properly.

I would NOT recommend this for a fan.  When everthing was complete I was able to easily turn the support plate with my hand.  Do you really want this supporting a fan hanging over your head!

I threw everything back into the box for a return.  $50 for trash.  I'm already coming up with my own version and it is working great.  I do not recommend this for a DIY'er!  The advise I would give if you really have to buy this is --immediately test the wires with a meter after you have screwed the part into the light socket.
