Where to begin?

As a whole, this bundle has the highest playtime per dollar spent of any game I've ever picked up. In essence, if you get any enjoyment out of FPS games at all, this package will keep you entertained well byond what your 'average' game could ever hope to.

The games...

Half life 2
This game has to be one of my all time favorite FPS. Not only is there a rich story driving the plot, but the action is intense, and the graphics are superb given when the game originally was released. What that means is you dont need to lay down $2000+ for a computer to enjoy all the scenery the game has to offer. From the moment you enter City 17, you're clueless as to what has happened, and are trying to figure it out. There are plenty of puzzle elements to the game, so you need to put some thought into what you do, not just blast away. One of my favorite things I managed to do was make a tower of wooden crates and cardboard boxes in order to get back into a window in the very first section of the story.
Without a doubt one of the more fun things to use in the game is the Gravity Gun, basically a device that lets you pick up and launch most anything under 300lbs, and push anything up to vehicles.
As well, this is one of the very few games that i was totally creeped out while playing, during the "We don't go to Ravenhold" chapter.

Half Life2:Episode 1 & 2

Both add a nice amount of gameplay and story to the original HL2, and give you much satisfaction in actually completeing more dificult challanges.

Team Fortress 2

The reincarnation of one of the all time most popular class bassed FPS. This gives you all the same classes as the original, while giving you beautiful graphics and much fun. They have done an amazing job of ballancing out all the classes, so none completely dominate, but just have the classes they are stronger against.

TF2 Classes:

Heavy - Big, dumb, and Russian. This is the guy who plants himself, and lays waste to all oncomers. His primary weapon is a Minigun, enabling you to fire bullets constantly as you walk around, this being offset by the fact that you walk very slowly while shooting.

Demoman - Your explosive expert, with the aid of either pipe bombs, which can be lobbed over obsticles, or bounced off walls to hit people he cant even see. Or sticky bombs, which can be placed around doorways or in other hidden places to give any unwary a nice big kaboom.

Soldier - Rockets rockets and more rockets. His rockets will keep traveling till they hit something, be it wall, ground, or they unfortunate medic who's making a pest of himself by healing the opposite side. As well, by jumping and firing a rocket at you feet, you can launch yourself to great heights, enabling you to rain rockets down upon your foes.

Scout - Scouts run fast, dodge hard, and jump high. While not the most powerful of offensive classes, they have the ability to cap points twice as fast as other classes, and can make a big difference in some maps.

Spy - Master of disguise. The spy can disguise himself as any class, of either side. He has invisibility to sneak around to the enemys backside, and masquerade as one of them. But be wary, if a spy is behind you, his shiny butterfly knife is gonna find its way into your back, an instant kill. As well, the spy has the abiltiy to sap enemy engineers structures, disabling them and slowly lowering their HP.

Pyro - He's got a flamethrower and he's not afraid to use it. The closer the pyro gets to you, the more damage his fire does. His flames arnt stopped by people or buildings, so he can damage many opponents at one time. The pyro's secondary role is that of spy checker, by tossing out spurts of flames at all friendlies, anyone catching fire is not who they seem.

Engineer - If he builds it, it will kill. The engie is a very powerful asset to any team, either through his teleporters, to get friends closer to the fighting faster, or his dispenser, to give ammo and health, or most importantly, his sentries, which will shoot anything and everything that dares to be a different color.

Sniper - Master of long range warfare. Hidden in a corner, he will be more than happy to pop any melons that are so unfortunate as to fall under his crosshair. A good sniper is always an asset to the team, but stopping people before they even get a chance to fight.

Medic - Savior to a team. He uses his medigun to heal all your wounds and when he's healed enough, and his Ubercharge is full, he and the person he's healing become invincible for a short time, enabling them to pierce even the staunchest defenses.

Overall one of the most fun online FPS i've played, and I would reccommend it in a heartbeat.

Portal

This has to be one of the most twistedly humorous games i've played in years. You have your portal gun, which shoots a red and blue portal, which connect together. And physics works between them. Meaning if you fall from a great height into a portal on the floor, you'll shoot out one on the wall at the same speed you were falling at. Great for many hours of fun, plus with downloadable maps from people online, almost limitless potential for enjoyment and puzzle solving fun!

Another benefit of the Orange box is the base program of Steam. Steam is the game selection and Valve community program, where you can buy almost any game, and download it right to your computer. No more running to the store or wondering where your disc is. Anytime you need to reinstall a game, you just download it from steam and are good to go!

I had already purchased HL2 before the Orange box came out, so I thought It was basically wasted money. But in Steam, if you get a second copy of the same game, you can give it away to one of your friends, which is great, and now my friend is hooked on it too.

Overall, I cannot reccommend this product higly enough. If you like FPS in the least, treat yourself to this amazing deal.

Stainless steel peeps kidnapped my hampster!

This is an absolutely great package, you get one of the best games ever for the PC, Half-Life 2, you get episode 1 and 2, plus Portal and TF2. Portal will blow your mind with very cool 3-d puzzles, as you try to teleport around a maze of a laboratory. Then you have TF2, and awesome multiplayer game. Really you're getting 5 games for the price of one, a dang good deal.

Best Deal of the year

You can't go wrong with this. Unless you bought the parts all seperately, in which case you're paying another 40 bucks for all the parts you previously bought plus another 2-3 hours of the continuing saga of Half Life 2.

HL2 is a cool game, and this continues the story. But the best part of this has got to be Portal

If ever there was a perfect game, Portal would come very close. It combines elements of platforming, 1st person shooters, and puzzle solving into one. And it actually works. It doesn't hurt that the game is also hilarious.

The way it works is you get a gun type thing that shoots portals onto flat walls and floors. You solve puzzles by using the portals in various ways: Like at one point you will need to drop out of the ceiling onto a moving platform, so you shoot a portal onto the ceiling and another one into the wall next to you and once the platform moves underneath you walk through the wall on fall down onto the platform. You can even shoot portals when turning corners and watch yourself from behind or overhead. The way it plays with space is awesome.

Sadly the game is over only in 2-3 hours, less if you're good, though if you rush you may miss some of the funnier comments the computer makes.

At times the game can be nauseating from the sense of vertigo. I found myself getting a little seasick, and that hasn't happened to me in a long time.

If you like multiplaying, Team Fortress 2 is one of the best with a bunch of different character types, and each one works for the team as a whole.

I would recommend getting the Orange Box for the x-box or ps3, as the coolest bit, Portal, works just fine and costs half as much.

So much awesome in one little box

This collection of Valve games is exceptional and worth the price! Buy it! You will not be disappointed at the quality and replayability of these games.

Buy This

Half Life 2: Good game and all, just very lengthy and somewhat boring.
Half Life 2 Episode One: Decent, found it to be pretty fun.
Half Life 2 Episode Two: GREAT! Loved the graphics, way better than Episode One if you ask me, great game.
Portal: Though short, very innovative and interesting plot.
Team Fortress 2: I admire the cartoony look, fits very well with the game. Great multiplayer.
Overall: Get this. 5 great games, 10 bucks each. A steal.

Great deal.

First played these on the 360, loved them.
Bought it for the PC after I sold the xbox...
The only thing that I don't like about it is Steam. You can't even install the games without a reliable internet connection.. and you're pretty much downloading the whole series (which is a good 5GB+ of bandwidth used.)

Excellent games

Even though technically there are five games, two of them (Episode 1 and Episode 2) just expand the story of the first part (Half-Life 2) in a Star Wars fashion but are still great on their own right although on the short side. However, the story isn't even complete yet, so if you can't stand waiting for the ending of the story in a video game you probably will not like how they end Episode 2 with a HUGE cliff hanger. Even so, I highly recommend that you play each part of the game in order. It ruined the whole story and it didn't make sense for a friend of mine. However, Half-Life 2 and the parts following are only single player although there are some multi player modifications to the game and other mods as well.
Portal deserves the award for being the most unique game this year, if not EVER. Its probably one of the few first person shooter/puzzlers out there. Not to mention the massive cult-like following with fans.
I didn't really care too much for Team Fortress 2 as much. However, it still is fun to play.

Overall, good package.

Three great games for the price of one!

This game is awesome if u like getting what u pay for in my opinion this game is definitely worth what the price. it has half life two and episodes one and two so that alone is worth the price . But it also includes team fortress two and portal and that is just a plus.

so yes i would definitely recommend this product to anyone who likes getting there moneys worth in fps games and those who like to get five games por the price of one.

great game

The combined cost of the three previous games of Half-Life was nearly $180. This one was another $39.95 and includes HL2, HL2 Episode1, and Episode 2. I would have been much happier if I could have purchased HL2 Episode 2 as a stand alone product. To package the previous games together is redundant, and completely unnecessary.
The length of HL2 Episode 2, is a lot shorter than the two preceeding it. I was expecting more from Valve.
I am not at all impressed with Portal. Did not like it.
Since I don't play online, I have no comment on Team Fortress.

Extremely Disappointed

Caution before buying. There are no games to be played on the 2 DVDs that are enclosed. You must connect to the internet and download massive files. If you have a modem this can not be done (2% after 5 1/2 hours for one of the 3 games). Your PC is then infested with numerous tracking cookies (invasion of privacy). None of this stated on the box.
