I have watched this on VHS for over 30 years. My kids have grown up watching it on VHS. The VHS tapes still work, but I wanted this on  something that might last us another 30 years. The picture quality and audio are  a great improvement on what I have grown up watching. We're very happy with this set.

Purchased the 4 pack pippi set.
Loved Pippi when I was a kid. Watched it with my brother and sisters and loved it. Now, when I first popped it in I forgot how "cheesy" the movies are BUT I still enjoyed it and will watch them over and over again. Pippi Rocks!

The classics are classic!

The Pippi Longstocking DVD set is amazing! I can't tell you how much my family loves the characters, songs, and storylines. It's a wonderful collection we will cherish and watch regularly! “Pippi Longstocking is coming into your town!”

This particular version of Pippi Longstocking is very definitive of the character. This late 1960's and early 70's Swedish version of Pippi Longstocking More closely resembles the original Astrid Lindgren book "Pippi Longstocking" than any other version made.
The reason for the close resemblance to the book would be because Astrid Lindgren herself wrote the scripts and over saw the production of this wonderful series. There is an English over-dub due to the original version being in Swedish. The movies are Beautifully filmed in a breath taking array of colors. The first movie in the set; "Pippi Longstocking" is the best out of the four. The entire thing was shot in one of the most beautiful and historic parts of Sweden; Visby, which is located on the island of Gotland in the Baltic sea. The stone architecture and the cobblestone streets of historic visby with wildflowers blooming everywhere and the blue skies of Sweden make this set of movies a magical, fairy-tale like delight!! If that's not enough, 9-year-old Inger Nilsson has been consider by many to be the one and only REAL Pippi Longstocking as both her adorable/sloppy/artless appearance and flawless performance made you believe that she really was the character. Villa Villakula; Pippi's unusual Swedish cottage, is absolutely delightful with it's yellow paint with pink and green trim and a green roof. There was a later American version of Pippi shot in the 80's and set in Florida that was very poorly done, had children who were entirely too old and looked too mature playing the title characters (Pippi In particular) and bares no resemblance to this wonderful piece of film making art. If you want your children to see something that is magical, funny, whimsical, delightful, and accurate to the original Astrid Lindgren book "Pippi Longstocking"; then, this is the version you need to buy!!!!!! You will see that Inger Nilsson was the PERFECT Pippi Longstocking after viewing this!! It is my personal recommendation that Wal-Mart start selling this version in their stores. After word got out among parents as to how good these movies are for families to watch; they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelf.

This is the real Pippi collection.  All those shows we used to watch when we were kids.  Quality good entertainment.  
My daughter is 11 years old and my little boy 4.  They loved watching Pippi with me.   I got this collection  for them as a Christmas present and I also got the book.  
I can watch these movies over and over again.

Pippi was of the best role models for little girls when women first begun to be liberated in her timely manner of 1969 and 1970! "She is the strongest girl in the world" and nothing is impossible for her! Pippi has amazing adventures that any child can enjoy in outrageously funny ways an adult can appreciate! I love all four movies even now as my own grandchild watch with brand new eyes and even laugh at some of the same spots I did when I was their age!

After re-reading some of my favorite childhood books, I was inspired to find the movies. What a great series of fun and adventure! Kids today will love Pippi's antics! Appropriate for girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 11.
