Turning on: Easy to use 
Folding:  probe folds into place as described.  
Magnet works, do not know if waterproof as it will not be used in or close to water. 
Could not locate in store.  Ordered on line and was available for pick up quite quickly.  Therefore, the item must have been in stock in the store but I was not able to find the display.

I bought this as a quick replacement of a great BBQ thermometer that finely died after several years. I was going to use this one just until I could buy one of the really good ones. This ThermoPro TP19HW Waterproof Meat Thermometer surprised the heck out of me. It worked just as well as my expensive thermometer for about half the price. I love it, Very accurate, backlit so you can see at night, and has a magnet to attach it to your BBQ. Bye Bye expensive thermometers, I'm gonna use this ThermoPro TP19HW Waterproof Meat Thermometer til it dies.

top of the line

This thermometer is absolutely great, anytime I grill meat I've been using it. I really hate eyeballing chicken because of salmonella, so I bought this for chicken but I started using it all the time. The screen is easy to see, you can turn on or off the backlight, if you flip it over it gives you the temp that meat is fully cooked through, and it's a good price!

It appears to work well. I like that it's magnetic but wish it had a second magnet because it falls down. It comes with the tiny screwdriver you need to open the battery back so don't throw out the package!!!!

Good meat thermometer, but it is not instantaneous; it takes about 4 seconds to read.  I had a previous thermometer that read faster, but to replace it would be over $100.  This one is a great value for the money.

Almost perfect, but still great value

Better than the traditional glass bubble cooking thermometers that I grew up with.
     Hot water for bread making will never be too hot and kill the yeast again.
     Deep  fryers with thermostat control will be just right with a more accurate thermometer to use.
     The folding probe makes sure that the probe will never get bent or broken.
     I keep mine in easy access, on the front of my wall oven with the built in magnets.
     I hope that you are as happy with yours as I am with mine.

Like: Easy to use, seems to work accurately with preferred temps, like listed temps on the back of the handle. Battery lasted the life of the thermometer. 
Dislike: Used for one year and the needle fell off the handle, exposing the wires, and had to throw away. But, we like it enough to have bought another.

My opinion may change, but, right out of the box and placing the battery, I have 0 power. Won't turn on, won't even show a temperature, nothing. I thought maybe it was a dead battery - placed a fresh battery inside, and still nothing. I've held down every button, no sound, no light, no reading. So far very disappointed, I was hoping for a better product!

Directions-????What directions-a piece of paper with writing-a child can do! 
It takes a special person to write step by step directions that are easy to follow!
I wasted all this time %26 money for nothing!

Do not waste your hard earned money!

Brand new and the temperature is not accurate at all.  Nearly ruined an expensive rib eye.  I like mine medium rare and it was not all accurate.  Such a shame.  Bought an OXO and much better.
