[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great fun toy to pretend play at the beach with a ball and sandcastle. Can take batteries to run on the track, but not necessary. The train cars come apart so they can be swapped out with others from the series and also added on for a longer set.

Beachy time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Thomas Train Set packaging was sturdy, but very easy to remove the toy from packaging. The 3 pieces came connected and were easy from my 4 year old to take apart and put back together.
  There was a set of instructions, which came in multiple languages, however I found it difficult to locate the English instructions and therefore my daughter and I just began playing with the set. I was unaware for the first 15 minutes that the train needed batteries, as the packaging and instructions were not clear in stating the train set needed 2 AAA batteries to operate in its own.
  My daughter liked pushing and pulling the train over her plastic table, the carpet floor and kitchen tiles. I noticed there was a lever atop the traim engine, which made me question whether the toy needed batteries. I reviewed the packaging and could not locate anything that said what kind of batteries were needed, so I continued to check the instructions again. I finally found I needed a screwdriver to remove the top of the engine and add the AAA batteries, and oh my did my daughter have a blast. Putting the lever forward, atop the engine, turns on the motor.
  The Thomas train is made of solid plastic, which seems very durable. The removable ball, I would throw a couple feet, and my daughter used the train to capture the ball and kick it back with the train wheels.  We couldnt believe how quickly the train moved. Again, we tested the tabletop, the kitchen tile and our carpet, but we also used our leather ottoman. The train seems to be able to travel over pretty much every type of material!!! What a fabulous feature!!! The train pretty much went straighz, except while on the carpet, where it would be turned slightly in different directions.
  I would highly recommend the Thomas train set for children ages 3-6. My child is heading toward 5, and although I wasnt sure that she would be as interested in this toy, she had a blast playing with it, and so did I!

Durable and fast train set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beachy Nia has all she needs for a train trip to the beach! She is very decorative with a beach scene on both sides of her body complete with sand, seashells, sea life, a beach ball, a bucket and a pail. She comes sporting sunglasses with a sun glare and she is super happy with a big smile. She comes with 2 train cars, a bucket hauler and a flat bed hauler. Her train cars are interchangeable as well as the cargo she carries. She can be used on the bare floor or used with the Thomas & Friends train track systems. She can haul other Thomas & Friends train cars and cargo as well as hers being hauled by other motorized Thomas & Friends trains. Inserting and replacing the batteries is easy, just a small Phillips screwdriver is needed. Just be careful when inserting the base back into the top portion of the train as sometimes the switch can be turned on while your fingers are right by the turning wheels and can cause a fright. It is not dangerous or painful if fingers get snagged by the turning wheels. Overall Beachy Nia is quality built and easy to use and fun to look at while she hauls her cargo down the tracks.

Fun to play with!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fun toy!  All 3 of my boys have played with Thomas trains.  My 3 year old enjoys that it is motorized and he can play with it on the tracks or just on the floor in the house. Beachy Nia is a new train and she is a fun engine!  Her ball and sand castle are removable which is ok (easy to lose) but fun to play with.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Thomas and Friends Beachy Nia Toy Train, with Motorized Engine with Cargo is a lot of fun! Pretend you are a rain yard down by the beach and loading cargo to haul away. My two children, ages two and four both enjoy this toy. There is a switch on top of the engine that is easy for both ages to turn on and off. The train comes with two extra cars that can be placed in any order and just simply hook together. The train does not come with batteries and does require two AAA batteries if you'd like it be motorized automatically. The detail on the train does show that it is a beach train that includes pictures of sand, shells, toys, and a beach ball. The train also comes with a flatbed car which carries a train sandcastle that can be removed, and an addition train car that carries a toy beach ball that just sits on the train car. When the train is being powered by the motorized component it moves slowly on hardwood and tile floor. You do not need the batteries for it too move. You can manually push the train around. This train has been used inside the house but also has been taken in the car and to grandma's house.

My girls have a train track set that this fits and they have loved putting her on it and using their imaginations. The colors on this train are so bright and the beach ball is a fun touch. Not too big either to store and fits nicely in our train basket. Would recommend for any train loving toddler on your list!

The hitch for both the attached cars work really well and the ball and "sand train" we a lot of fun to play with.  All of these Thomas Friends trains are so much fun to play with.
