[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toy was so much fun - my 3.5yr old liked watching it go & was able to use the controller by himself because button was big. Only downfall was that it couldn't go backwards but it runs quickly. It was very sturdy also - my son threw it couple times & it still worked afterwards. He also like playing w/it manually.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really liked watching my son play with Luke. It was a great boding experience with his dad, who used to sell RC toys through a retail store, allowing him to share his experience to the next generation of RC users. 
The carriage of Luke needs to be removed with a small Phillips screwdriver (bigger than a jewelry screwdriver and smaller than a regular Phillips) as does the remote backing. Each component takes up 2 batteries, which were not included. Installation was easy, and within a few moments, my child was happily running Luke all around his bedroom.
There was a slight issue of him not understanding that the train needs to be on and then the button needed to be pressed, so he did reset the train often to try to get it to work, so there is a bit of a learning curve in that respect. However, it is rather easy to teach that the button makes it stop and go and the only time to really turn it off is when you're done.
All in all, it was fun for him to play with, a great bonding experience with his dad, and was easy for him to grasp.

Easy to learn and fun to play with

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 3 year old son loves Thomas & Friends and this was a perfect addition to his train collection since none of his other trains have the ability to move on their own.  The remote is as large as the train which makes it easy to use for toddler sized hands.  My son liked pressing on the remote, although he is still trying to learn that he doesn't have to keep holding onto the button to make it move.  Luke the train is bigger than his other wooden trains, so it doesn't fit on his train tracks.  But my son has adapted and plays with this train primarily on the hardwood floors.  My only criticism is that I wished the train moved backwards as well as forwards.

Fun for your Thomas fan!

The remote does not come with batteries and it took a few minutes to get everything working, wish it was really from coming out of the packaging.

Compact toy that is easy to carry

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were so excited to get a new character that we had never seen before in the Trackmaster series! Luke looks very authentic and it was really easy for my 3 1/2 year old to operate the stop/start remote control. He liked having the ability to have some control but it was still very easy and consistent so as not to frustrate him. My only complaint was that you needed 4 AAA batteries (2 for the engine and 2 for the remote) just to get going.

Perfect travel toy

There weren't really any instructions that we could see however it doesn't take long at all to figure out. It only moves forward and not backward. We would have liked for it to do both. However for the price it's a really great deal. It's fast and strong which is great because my son enjoys coupling it up to a lot of box cars...

Great beginner remote control

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is yet another good addition to the Track Master Motorized engines. Luke who is the small green engine is operated with use of a remote control....with a press of the button on the remote, Luke either moves forward or stops. That's all it does and you cannot control it where it moves right or left....just goes straight. Wish it had features to move all directions. One plus, able to drive both on hard surface and on the carpet. Overall, cute lil' engine on the go!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 4 year old son was excited when he first saw this train, and he quickly lost interest. The main issue I found is that the button on the remote control just starts and stops the train. At 4, my son has already played with remote controlled items that allow him to turn them and go backwards as well. He played with it for about 5 minutes and hasn't really touched it since. This would probably be better targeted as a 'first Thomas' type of product for 1-2 year olds. The one redeeming part is that the train fits on his wooden tracks, so he can just turn it on and play with it like the regular motorized engines. Once he found out he couldn't move the train with the remote, just letting it run on his tracks was the way to play. I believe the packaging said for 3-6 year olds - I definitely don't see your overage 5 or 6 year old being entertained for long with this train. If there were a few more options this would definitely be a favorite toy.
