Those Calloways DVD -  Based on the novel by Paul Annixter, THOSE CALLOWAYS tells the story of Cam Calloway (Brian Keith), a New England preservationist and fur trapper. Along with his son, Cam dreams of buying a nearby lake to turn into a refuge for migrating geese. He finds, however, that making the dream come true requires much more money than he has, and even greater ingenuity in getting around the real estate developers. The situation turns violent when Cam and son move into a cabin on the property, and an attempt is made on his life. Can Cam stop the development of this pristine area and carry out his lifelong wish to help the environment?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Those Calloways is a great old-fashioned Disney movie that gives an historical view of rural America in the 1930's.  Hunting and trapping were ways that some people eked out a living.  People still built cabins from the rocks and trees on their land.  Electricity was a luxury not a necessity.  Water came from a well. A small building out back was the restroom.  The  nearest town had a dirt road running through the middle--Main Street.  Elderly men who lived through the Civil War sat around and discussed local and national events outside the General Store.  Now this will probably offend any animal-lovers because of the hunting and trapping but oddly enough, the movie is about the first wildlife preserve for ducks which the hunter and trapper made happen.  The acting is great with lots of veteran actors  who have fun with their roles.

I didn't know anyone had this movie, I first saw it on the Disney Channel over 20 years ago. I loved it. Its a great family movie, I wish their was more movies like it today. Its a great movie.

I am happy with my purchase, it is an older movie and not found everywhere. The only disappointment is that I could not get it in widescreen, I much prefer full screen. I am looking for full screen other places, because that is really what in my collection.
