The instructions say to remove a firestarter piece from within the log and drop it into the central chimney. I wasn't able to cleanly remove said piece because it seemed to be adhesive'd really strongly.  It's still a very convenient way to start a fire, but for the price it should really work as described.

Burns well, doesn't start as easily as hoped.
