[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great for 1/4 acre or less mowing once or twice a week. Shoot plugs easily, very poor suction. I've always owned TORO this doesn't compare to their gas mowers. Sorry toro it is disapointing. One other problem noted when yuo go through long grass the rpm's speed up but so does the speed of the mower so it is self defeating. Speed controle very poor compared to "personal pace system"
Starts easy and is very quiet if that is all you are looking for. I doubt other electrics are any better.

DISAPOINTING

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used Toro gasoline power mowers for over 30 years, so I had no hesitancy to purchase a Toro electric mower.  Overall I am satisfied with my choice, with two provisos.  First, the performance of the grass clipping catcher is weak; with as many clippings left on the ground as go into the catcher.  Second, the instructions on page twelve of the manual as to cutting height adjustment of the rear wheels is wrong - reality is opposite of what manual illustrates regarding the rear wheels.

Instruction manual incorrect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The lawnmower cuts the grass just fine and the battery lasts a good long time on each charge.  The self propel feature is very hard to hold in place if you are a senior and want to go slower than full throttle.  I called customer service twice and asked for advice on how to adjust this feature.  I got two different answers from people who were not familiar with how my model works. I guess I am stuck with a lawnmower that is just too hard to use.

Good and Bad

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. I have used it 3 times. Did the front and back yard twice on the initial charge. Third mow the grass was long due to lots of rain leading to an extended time between mowing. Did the whole yard with 1bar left when done. 2 hour recharge is nice. my 13 year old 24 v Black and Decker takes overnight to recharge. It still works but not self propelled. The self propelled part is why I upgraded. Only 4 stars because it can be a little hard to maneuver around in tight spaces.

Not my 1st electric lawn mower

Great propel power, lightweight and easy to manuver. Re charges quickly. One drawback is that it doesn't pick up all the debris very well. I have to go back over spots to get all the clippings and small twigs/leaves and even then it won't pick up all. Noticed that it doesn't blow clippings into the catcher very far and clogs up even when catcher is not very full. And yes the grass is dry when mowing.

One drawback

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The platitudes of electric vs. gas don't need to be restated, nor do the things listed in the specifications (e.g., long batter recharge time), so I'll try to cover some of the caveats and details people may be wondering about.

* If you're used to the racket of a gas mower and are just doing a trim, you'll wonder if you're even cutting anything.
* Since Toro will no longer produce an electric push-only mower (i.e., model 20367), this is an acceptable alternative if you have confined spaces and don't want to be forced into Personal Pace. It's really not any more difficult to push/pull than my old gas push-only mower when not engaging the self propulsion bar.
* I typically mow for 30-45 minutes and have two lights left on the battery. This is with turbo mode only occasionally being activated, however. The one time I forgot to recharge the battery, it made it 3/4 of the way through a second mow.
* Turbo mode is much more likely to be activated with the self-propulsion engaged, even on moderate grass length, so something to keep in mind if wanting to preserve battery.
* I've found the cut to be clean and even, with only a rare weed stalk or blade left behind. I may be biased, but I think it's better-looking than the job done by another popular battery mower two houses down.
* Some complaints about suction with battery mowers -- this is strong enough to suck cicadas into the bag.
* Mulching was a bit of a disappointment, considering reviews said this was one of the best. For even patchy/moderately tall grass, expect wheel trails and long clippings to be left behind. My old mower would keep mulching until it bogged down... it seems like this one might be more likely to leave behind lots of clippings to prevent bogging down. However, the grass that is mulched properly is very fine and not very noticeable.
* Bagging helps reduce the amount of clipping and trails left behind, but they increase as the bags starts to fill. I've never bagged before, but expect the clippings to start increasing as the bag approaches half full, as well as escaping grass around the area where the bag is attached. I kind of doubt you could fill the bag completely. Removing the bag typically leaves a healthy amount of grass behind on the mower (or ground), even if you try to force it into the bag while removing it.
* The best performance occurred while bagging on the second to highest setting during a late afternoon mow.
* I haven't tried side discharge yet, but you can obtain a free rear (curved) discharge chute when registering the mower with Toro if you wish.
* I've found the undercarriage of the mower is staying pretty clean, but I haven't mowed in mid-summer dampness yet.
* Don't stow-and-fold until you're near you're final storage location, because it is pretty awkward/heavy to lift (but a great feature!).
* Some of the pieces do feel a little flimsy, but I think the mower should do fine overall as long as proper care is exercised.
* Saw comments about how holding the handle bar seems to fatigue your hands. I have noticed the same discomfort, but it's not too bad.

In conclusion, I am satisfied with my purchase and really like the clean, low-maintenance advantages for my small suburban yard. The settings and configurations have just taken some getting used to in order to maximize performance. And I wish the mulching was a little better.

Satisfied with a few caveats

Mower

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to get away from the gas and oil mess of a regular mower and I thought Toro was a good brand. It is built well and feels sturdy but battery life is disappointing. the first time I used it I was able to mow my entire yard on one charge but the grass was not too long or thick. now every time I mow the battery dies about a 1/4 into my back yard and I have to spend an hour or so charging the battery. overall a good mower just wish the battery lasted longer.

GREAT!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own a Flex Force Power System 22in Recycler that I really like.  I bought the 21in to leave at my mothers house as I cut her lawn.  The bagging system is structured differently without the manual door and doesn't seem to fill the bag completely.  Instead of the mower running full power until the battery is depleted, it starts to slow down toward the end of the battery life. The springs to battery compartment door fell of both mowers.  Otherwise generally not a bad mower.

22 vs. 21 inch mowers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Does a great job cutting and is extremely quiet compared to my previous gas mower.  I do feel that the construction is on the cheap, wheels are just plastic and slip easily when there's any sort of hill, and the self-propelled system is a step back from Toro's gas mower version from 20 years ago.  I'm happy that I'm not contributing to pollution via an electric mower, but would not select this option if i could do over.

1-star would not recommend.
