I used this product as part of a blister repair job. Works excellent for cleaning the hull before applying epoxy, fairing compound, barrier coat and bottom paint. I used a spray bottle to apply it and then wiped it off with a clean rag turning frequently.

This stuff works

We needed to clean the recently built cuddy cabin of our 20' LOA, 8' Beam, Ply on Frame, Fiberglassed backyard built boat to start priming and finishing. The first step after fairing the surfaces with our homemade fairing compound and sanding was easy using this solvent. The solvent swabbing was, after dusting, very revealing as it picked up minute surface insect residue and imperceptible by eye, greasy spots left by the insecticide used to ward them off. We highly recommend this solvent for use on any build where a very clean surface is required - especially as finishing is undertaken.

Excellent Dewaxer and Surface Preparation Solvent

I decided to try this as an alternative to Interlux 202 because it is less expensive and is reported not to have as strong of a smell. Indeed it doesn't have the strong smell of Interlux 202, is less expensive, and seems to work. It may flash off a little faster than the Interlux 202, but it's hard to tell here in Florida during a heat wave. I was using this on a 35-year-old sailboat deck, so not sure how much """"stuff"""" was there for it to remove, but after using it water sheeted evenly over the area, so there appears there are no contaminants left behind.

I would buy it again

I used this wipeing down the hull after sanding....cleaning paint brushes......wiping off my work desk after spilling who knows what on it....yeah.....it does what it says and works...if  you are buying products from total boat put your mind at rest and go ahead and buy this too

great product

Works for me. Just follow instructions for all total boat products. Dewaxer works well just as was intended to do.

1. Does not evaporate as quickly.  Great for warmer climates 2. Does not eat through shop towels Acetone 3. Cleans and preps well

Great for a few reasons.

I used this on my deck coating job and it seems to work good. I'm going to paint my interior cabin next but not sure if this will remove the wax that is used to cure the gelcoat & Fiberglass. does anyone know if this is the correct product to use for that ????

Have one question but can't seem to get a answer??

Honestly, it is hard to visually evaluate how well this product cleans a surface.  While cleaning a dirty dinghy hull, it didn't /appear/ much cleaner afterwards, but some of the dirt was probably ground in pretty good (bought used).  As far as prep for applying laminating product or gelcoat, everything seemed to adhere well after cleaning/prepping with this product, so I expect it did it's job! This product dries fairly quickly, but not so quickly that you can't get a good wipe down in.

Good Amount of Wiping Time...Hard to Tell If It Works

Overall, I like the product.  I am hoping that it proves it's self out in the long run and the paint does not come up due to unseen wax...  only time will tell.  I did not like the can lid threads.  It wanted to cross thread every time I put the lid back on, which is often, in order to prevent it from evaporating or getting tipped over.  Eventually the lid got stuck bad enough that I had to punch a hole in the can and drain it into a wiper fluid bottle.  Fortunately it has not eaten the plastic bottle.  I would guess that a plastic bottle would have been cheaper and better from the beginning.
