amazing quality for the price

I purchased this set hoping it would conform to FIDE and USCF. However, it did not - "close, but no cigar".

In order for this set to conform to regulation size, one of two things need to happen.

1. The individual squares need to be 21/4" OR
2. The individual bases of the chess pieces need to be smaller diameter.

I was able to locate a nice board that fit over the table part of the base (after simply lifting the original chess board off ) that has 21/4" squares. The result is a perfect regulation table using the original chess pieces that came with it.

The original board has 1.84" squares and the chess pieces has 11/2" bases. The result was a "crowded" table that not only looked odd but was very difficult to play on.

The 11/2" bases on each individual chess piece is perfect for the 21/4" squares of the "new" board. Resulting in a very professional looking and easy to play regulation table and chess pieces.

Would have been nice if backgammon pieces were included!

Only has chest pieces no checkers or backgammon pieces.
