[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 40 years after his original G1 toy was on shelves,  Venom is finally back! Age of the Primes Venin (renamed to distinguish him from another company's popular character) is the last figure released of these new updated Deluxe Insecticons. Decades ago, little kid me never had the original Venom or his Deluxe bug buddies, and I could only stare longingly at the in the little Transformers G1 pack-in catalog. But this new figure definitely satifies that nostalgia gap. Like all of the Legacy and now AotP figures, this new Venin features a full range of articulation for maximum poseability. It would have been nice to also get wrist rotation, and his wing mounts can get in the way of some of his arm movements, but in-hand I find neither limitation bothers me. He includes a blaster rifle and small axe that combine to form a large axe. His conversion into his robotic cicada form is satisfying and straightforward, and even younger kids should be able to master it once they've done it a few times. As a cicada, his insect legs and wings are poseable, and he has enough 5mm ports to store both of his robot weapons. I do wish his robot head was a bit better disguised in cicada mode, but (like his wing mount placement) that's a fault of his original decades-old design. And again, his head visibility is one of those things that you'll notice initially, and then it won't bug you anymore. Alll in all, it's a fun toy, whether you're a kid who likes robots and insects or an Old fan like me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very nice update of the G1 Insecticon Venom!  He's very colorful, with lightpiped eyes in both modes.  With modern articulation and a fun insect mode, he's a great figure for any age!

Definitely worth it if you are an insecticon collector! Now, if Hasbro would only release Ransack individually, then a lot of us who missed out on him in the 4pack can complete our collections!
