Package came quickly and was wrapped well.  Toy itself is wonderful: feels like when you got Optimus back in the 80s with the die cast metal and good joint articulation.
The only downside is the price: $50 would be a lot for both cab and trailer but you are only getting the cab!
Otherwise, this Optimus Prime is a good piece for any collection!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The G1 Transformers are special- not only because of their unique art design but the physical transformations are so simple and intuitive. G1 Optimus is a fantastically conceived artistic accomplishment.

Fantastic replica of the original G1 Prime!

A wonderful reproduction of the Optimus Prime Figure (cab only).  The only thing that could have made this better is if the trailer and roller were also included.

All joints are tight.  The red of the cab, is a shade darker than the original G1 version and is more in line with the coloring of the cartoon.

The smokestacks are the original height and not the stubby version from the Toy R Us reissue from years back.

I recommend it.

I've bought several of these and I wish that they made more!  Joints have stayed solid and true to the original design they used actual rubber for wheels and diecast for the cab.  The quality is probably not what the original Japan 1984 versions are, but seem to be better than the 2002 reproduction.

Great reproduction

It came so fast. Everything was how I remembered him from the 80s except his legs sort of dont want  to stay in robot mode. His arms are really tight, but I think after a few transformations he will be okay. No complaints. Just a huge reminder of how much better the transformers was in the 80s.

So happy I own this again.

Love this. Brings me back to my childhood

Cool little piece of nostalgia. I have an original that I got as a birthday gift back in 1986 or so and it's in very “battle worn” condition, so it's nice to have a brand new shiny Optimus to display as an adult. I could gripe about the price, which is why I only gave it 4 stars, but if I was that concerned about the price, I wouldn't have bought it. Also, I would have easily dropped $80 to $90 if it were complete with the trailer.

Why no trailer?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On one hand the item does have a fair amount of metal parts, but it's still a basic toy from 40 years ago - one without the trailer and various bits n bobs no less; even at a sale price of $35, I dunno if I can ****% say it's entirely worth the price. It's a wonderful novelty, but all of Hasbro's prices in general are outrageous today.

EXACTLY like the original TF's I had as a kid.  It actually has metal, not a cheap plastic version.  However, packaging was a little damaged on the corners which is really disappointing.  5 stars on the item - 3 or less stars on the packaging.

Item was awesome.  I wanted it for nostalgic reasons.  But the box had been cut by someone on one end with a box cutter then tapped back up and was also in bad shape.  I wanted to keep the box but it was in such bad shape it was kind of more of an eye sore.  Terrible quality control.
