It has a microvelour plush on one side and a berber on the other side.

This blanket is soft and cuddly.  Keeps me warm even without using the heating when using the plush side.  The blanket with the berber side, heated perfectly to keep me toasty warm all night.  I love that it has 20 heat settings because sometimes your body temperature changes.   This blanket has a 10 hour auto shut off which is handy to have.   Machine washable which is important.  Will be great this winter when you just want to cover yourself and keep warm as you read or watch TV.  I highly recommend to those who want a soft cuddly heated blanket that looks and feel beautiful.

When I first opened it I couldn't believe how soft it felt.  I used it that night when I went to sleep, with the heat on, and I have never had a better blanket.  It keeps you really warm, besides having this soft blanket wrapped around me.  I now use it, with heat or without, depending on the temperature at night.  I HIGHLY recommend this blanket to others.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay I realize that we're not really in the season but I would need a heated blanket for and actually I live in Florida so you think I wouldn't need one at all ... but my son is always complaining he's cold and I thought why not I'll get him one.  He freaking loves this thing! He uses it "on" every night I think he's crazy but he loves it. And I'll admit when I'm having an RA flare because my extremities are cold it feels wonderful to wrap it up around my feet and turn it on.
We already got it dirty.  My youngest son spread chocolate all over the brown velvety side so I had to try those washing instructions.  They seemed complicated and my washer was not up to the task of the way it said to wash it in the washing machine.  I only have a few cycles and an old top loader so I put it on the gentlest cycle I could, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. It came out none the worse for the wear. I hung it to dry because it said that you could dry it in the dryer for 5 minutes on low heat and I knew that wasn't going to do anything so I just hung it up inside the house and came out perfectly fine. I will say it took a full 24 hours to dry and I had to turn it around halfway through the drying because the part that was inside while it was hanging wasn't drying so I flipped it over when the outside was dry and then the inside dried. I wouldn't hesitate to wash it on a gentle cycle again if it gets dirty again and it will because I have children.

The top was excellent, it got nice and warm almost to the point if me falling asleep. I never used the timer, I was trying it out for the warmth factor. It will be good for emergency situations if the furnace goes out. I'm not sure if its defective, or this is how it works.
