True Value 206341 400 Wood Sealer Protector, Brown is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from seems like the best of what's offered We applied this to our deck 5 years ago, and am now looking to buy more as we just used up the 5 gallon container we had and the original deck looks rather shabby next to the old deck and wheelchair ramp that we just did. This stuff stinks to high heaven for a few days after application, you need to spread it thinly as too much dries with sort of crinkles. After using it for the deck we used it for a 5 step arbor, a 24 ft wheelchair ramp and the railing, and another deck, so it definitely does spread quite far. It requires sun to "cure" and will stay wet until it gets that. That said, the areas on the ends of the deck and underneath railings all eventually dried and they don't seem to get much sun at all. I'm not sure if it's really worth the amount of money they charge, but it does last a long time and nothing else seems to last as long. My personal opinion is that perhaps it's time to look into the plastic type decking as there really isn't any product that works all that well on wood decks. Until then this is what we will use. Another thing to know is that the product will not dry up (like paint in a paint can). Even though the 5gallon container was 5 years old we were able to use it just like it was brand new, just shook up the container a bit and poured some out into a smaller can to carry. You just need to keep it out of the sun. I actually left ours outside between two shed in a shaded area.
