Surface Finish

Can be affordable, but also steep for certain models.

Simple application process for users of all skill levels.

Used (white) on 1950s baby blue tub/sink. Do your prep work and prepare to do 3 coatings. It's gunna stink strongly so ventilate and mask up. This product is only as good as your dedication to prep and detail is. Been 6 mos and I am pleased to have upcycled old sink/tub and saved $$ on dyi. I also am not a perfectionist and ok with a couple drip marks that only I can see when navel deep in bubbles.

Great for the $. Do the prep and multiple coats.

walmart.com

If you do it right it will turn out great. This is my second time using this product on my shower and it really held up for several years. The first time I did not prep well and even with bad prep it lasted but I got the urge to redo it 5 years later and I'm glad I did. I wasn't able to use it within a day like it says to do once you mix the items. I got busy with unexpected stuff but went back to it the next day and the solution was harder to work with for sure/ my fault not theirs. But I made it work. It actually gave it some texture since it started clumping up but I actually appreciate that for a shower floor so there's better grip , so it worked out nice. I did a smoothing sanding of it when I was done and it evened it out nicely. This stuff dries so hard- like a nice shellac and creates a nice sturdy finish that handles wear and tear, hot water, and frequent water exposure beautifully. If you need to “put lipstick on a pig” and just make your shower look nicer rather than redoing your whole bathroom- this truly is the way. I'm not handy at all but I have adhd and get impulsive with stuff like this and it worked out beautifully for me. It's a nice way to spruce up your bathroom on a budget. I may try my sinks next as I believe it can be used on them as well. Overall great product but get an aspirator mask and goggles because this stuff stinks.

Excellent product even if you do a bad job

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice thick coating. Dries quickly and made my tiles look brand new! Make sure to wear gloves but other than that perfect and worth the buy

Love it

Not gonna lie. This product was a pain in my behind. Lots of prep work is involved. The smell is incredibly small. Needed a mask to use it and stayed at a hotel for a few days. it's very easy to buble uo if you apply to much. It also has came off both the tub and sink. I think that had more to do with my lack of prep work. Still looks way better than it did

Okay

I have used this product multiple times. If surface is properly prepped and extreme care is taken during application, it's difficult to even tell it has been painted!

While I've used it on bathtubs and countertops, This is the first time I've attempted to use it to paint tile. We purchased a home built in 2007 with so much original brown tile. The kitchen needed to be lightened, so I finally worked up the courage.

The first coat goes on so easily with a foam roller, but it wasn't enough coverage. The second coat is where it gets tricky and STICKY. I would not try to reuse the same roller head but start fresh on day 2 with a new roller head. For the money you're saving by not retiling, it's worth it! I alway caulk to cover any jagged imperfections at the end.

Great product if you're careful

This product is Amazing..so easy to apply and transformed my kitchen backsplash. must have a respirator mask, it has strong vapors. but you smell nothing with the mask on.

I think it's going to work. The weather cooled off last Tuesday, when I applied the paint/hardener to my tub. It hadn't fully cured by Saturday, but maybe today....

Temperature matters

it is the correct color so i was hopeful it was going to work, but it was very toxic smelling for days %26 hard to work with. the secons application mads part of the paint bubble and wrinkle as it dried, even though i tried to follow the instructions, now the bottom.of the tub is a mess

I used this refinishing kit before on a bathtub and had an excellent experience so I bought it again for a shower project. Unfortunately this time the product was completely different. The coating was extremely thin/watery, difficult to work with on vertical surfaces, and had very poor coverage compared to my first experience. It also started lifting/peeling while applying even though the surface was properly cleaned and prepped just like last time.

I ended up buying two kits because the first coat covered so poorly. For the price I expected more consistency between batches. Very disappointed because my first experience with this product went flawlessly but the second and third time were not good.

What happened??

I purchased this Rust-Oleum Tub %26 Tile Refinishing Kit to update a shower base, and it turned out to be a massive disappointment and a waste of both time and money.
The Process
I made sure to follow the instructions to a T. In fact, I was probably even more thorough with the prep work than what was described in the manual, ensuring the surface was completely clean, sanded, and prepped for the application. The actual application process went fine, and I followed all the curing directions carefully.
The Problem
Despite the extensive preparation, the product simply did not hold up. After just a few days of normal use, the coating started to bubble and peel right off the shower base. It completely failed to adhere properly.
The Aftermath
Because the peeling looked so terrible and the finish was ruined, patching it wasn't an option. I ended up having to rip the entire shower base out completely and buy a brand-new shower to fix the mess.
Final Verdict
This product caused me a major headache and cost me significantly more money in repairs than if I had just replaced the shower base in the first place.

Major Disappointment Started Peeling Within Days
