This one works great so far. (I also bought some USB to RS232 converters off an auction site but they didn't work for me.)

Works on my Linux machine out of the box

It works, but you may need to rename/renumber a comport.

For serial port devices on newer computers

It worked great with Windows 8. Had no problem installing.

Serial USB cable

Windows XP and Linux found it installed it up and running no muss no fuss. Windows 7 did not auto install drivers. Had to go thru the install process to get the drivers loaded. Then it worked like a champ.

The installation CD does not have the correct driver for Windows 8. The Com 4 port is recognized some times and at other times requires a restart.
