It may not be as sensitive as other medium-heavy rods, but after your caught a couple of fish with it and adjust to it's sensitivity, and it will not be an issue.. 
On top of that, its toughness and durability will not and cannot be matched! 
I've caught Bluegill, Bass and Catfish on this rod without a problem.

My %231 favorite fishing rod

I needed a rod to pull Surf Perch out of Central Coast waters. This new rod has some serious spine to it. I cant believe how strong it is. I use a 2oz weight on 8lb line and have had no problem reeling them in. Have caught a few well over 3lbs in some rough surf. If you are looking for some muscle in a lighter rod, I would recommend this one.

Not so Ugly Stik

I bought this to replace the original Ugly Stik I'm retiring that I bought back in 1978. That rod has seen alot of use and still is as tough as the day I bought it, you can't beat how well they hold up and has always been my go to rod for trolling live bait rigs for walleye.

Can't be beat

I had the original ugly stick 7'' ugly stick one peice rod, I had it for almost 8 years and I lost it during a move from state to state and I was very sad about it. Then I ordered the ugly stick x2 7'' one piece rod and have been using it over the last two weeks and it was just like the old days! Great casting, not over sensitive but just right caught a few nice snapper and 13 pound Amber jack and it held up great ! Those fish are rod breakers and my new rod is solid still! Good work guys on the craftsmen ship and the quick dilivery ! I'll def be back for more! Thanks again - Jon !

Awesome rod!

I spend over 280 days in the field from fishing, camping, trapping and big game hunting. And I need high quality gear. And ugly sticks for that bill. I own almost ever size they offer so I can Taylor the rod to the area and conditions I fish. I highly recommend ugly stick to anyone regardless of fishing style, ability, or skill level they are a high quality product.

Awesome products

The pole bending action i get from pan fish on this rod make me giggle inside like a child. From nibbles to the moment the bluegill/crappie take the bait an run I can see an feel everything i need to.. This was the first ugly stik I've bought brand new.. Worth the money you ask? Every single penny of it!!!

7Ft Ultra lite spinning rod

In 1973 I saw a Ugly Stick Distributor pick up a 20 lb weight with a Ugly Stick. I've fished all my life but since that day I bought my first Ugly Stick and never bought any rods unless it was an Ugly Stick.

Long Time Customer

I bought this rod for my annual salmon trip. Looking forward to hooking into a 30 lb salmon. This rod has an amazing range, from 4-20lb test. And you can tell by its sensitivity at the tip coupled with its tough backbone. And considering it's half the cost of the base salmon rod price...no brainer.

Great action

I bought the rod to go bass fishing, and, unfortunately, the weather hasn't cooperated...yet- I hope.
However, I use Ugly Stiks almost exclusively- the almost stems from a combo I bought years ago, and let me tell you, for the money, Ugly Stik has no rival.
An Ugly Stik is one tough rod, and it does what a fishing rod is supposed to do.
And you'll have lunch money left over after buying one- in case the weather, or the fish, isn't obliging.

Seems Nice

The Ugly Stik GX2 casting rod is a very well built rod. I like the new blank thru handle design. The rod has plenty of backbone and hook setting power. Sensitivity is also very good. It is very easy to feel your bait in the water and helps you "read" structure. The rod also helps you detect strikes instantly. I like this rod paired with my Lews Laser MCS Baitcaster.

Great Bass Rod

Ordered two of these; when I opened the packages I found one was perfect and (what I expected from all my many ugly sticks), and on the other the tip section was molded or glued crooked and the rod was not true from tip to handle. The first time I ever was disappointed by an ugly stick product in probably 40+ years.
