So, one of the most complained about issues with a winch like this, is that they don't pull as hard as advertised .. That's really easy to explain.   The info for this winch is quite clear.. 4,500 is the max, when the winch has only a few loops of cable wound around it.. When the spool is full, it's about half of that. 
That just makes sense.. It's quite simple, it's a representation of  mechanical advantage, of the gears, and the diameter of the rope on the spool.  When the spool only has a few wraps around it, it turns once to bring in four or five inches of cable.. When it's almost full to capacity, it is twice that for every turn of the spool..  It just makes sense that the pull is less when the spool is near capacity.
Also, you can't expect the winch to pull full power, when all you have to power it is a small, "ATV" battery.. It just doesn't have the current to use the winch to full capacity.  I use mine with a full sized car battery. It works mint!! Pulling power is all about what is called "cranking amps"..  
Understand these operating principals of how a winch works, and this one will not disappoint you..  For the price.. You can't beat it.. and the wireless remote isn't something that you usually find at this price point.

Very nice winch

Straight forward instructions. The included winch mount is thick enough but it's not vehicle specific so the vertical tabs for the fair lead do not long up with the fair lead mounting holes. I had to mount my winch upside down so the cable comes off the top of the spool as the rope angle would not be correct. The remote Works great. The biggest issue was making a mounting point for the winches electrical box, other than that it's great! Lots of power, we'll see what it's like after it's been submerged a few times?!?
