Firstly, I do think the product is as described. I was going to have the product custom made and it would have been 30% more expensive. That being said, you could improve this product without a real increase in expense. And, I would have paid $50 more for a little more quality. Here are some thoughts, if you care to improve. Most people who order this product will use it over an open fire/flame, boil the sap and drain the pan. That is exactly what I will be using it for. Small, novice users. The pan is one piece of folded SSteel to make the bottom and front/back sides. Two pieces are welded on the other side. IMPROVEMENT - make the folded bottom slightly thicker SSteel as the bottom will face extreme heat and could warp. IMPORVMENT - have the welded sides come up and fold out an inch, creating a natural handle that could help when pouring liquid out manually. IMPROVMENT - mold the drain hole on the inside so that all liquid can drain from the bottom of the pan. The drain is positioned slightly above the bottom and therefore you cannot easily drain all the liquid out. The top of my pan actually had the edges folded inwards, which makes it even harder to manually drain completely. In this case, you need to create a gap/space in one corner to let the liquid flow out if drained manually. Just a couple little things to make the product more thoughtful and of higher quality. The valve that comes with it has a plastic core, and will melt the first time you use this thing. Get yourself a galvanized plug for it instead.
