This really makes it easy and cleaner for cat boxes. I was honesty pretty impressed with this cat box. Its sturdy, a very nice size and so easy to clean.

Absolutely recommend this Cat litter box

I ordered 2 of these boxes when we moved. I have a smaller version of this and have loved it for my 2 cats. Unwittingly, or ignorantly, I did not fully understand that giant is GIANT. Still, it is perfect, probably better than the old box I have, esp. for 2 cats. It is easy to use and very easy to change. I use XXL trash bags as liners for these boxes and sift out the cat stuff every few days into another trash bag. By doing this, I keep the litter boxes themselves clean and only the sifter is dirty. There is a drawback to this as the thickness of the trash bags does make it a bit difficult to snap the top onto the box but it can be done with a bit of patience. The sifter does need cleaned periodically but not often and odor is negligible. I do add baking soda to the bottom of the pan after I place the sifter in the box. I keep 2 boxes filled but only keep one in the house, trading them back and forth weekly. Right or wrong, it seems to help keep the boxes from holding odors. Probably everyone doesn't have room or space to do this but I find it helpful for me. Also, it allows me to bring the extra box into the house if we are going to be gone for several days.

My male cat was kicking litter out of my other boxes so I got 2 of these and they're the perfect depth that he can't kick litter everywhere

I needed to get a replacement of my cat litter box and I like the sifting ability.  It is hard to find so really pleased to buy this one. It was the right size, tougher sides and great replacement! Love, love it!!

Excellent Sifting cat litter box!

The practical design of this Van Ness Giant Sifting Enclosed Cat Pan is simple to use--for you and your kitty. Kitty can easily get in and out of the hinged hanging "odor door"--just like he would on a traditional/standard enclosed litter box. Easily the best feature: the alternating two pan with sifting screen system--you (or perhaps your spouse) don't have to fish around for p%p with a yucky little scoop in an icky litter box anymore!

Set-up is super quick & easy: Just stack the two pans with the sifting screen on top, then fill with clumping litter and snap on the top enclosure (which by the way, has a replaceable Zeolite air filter). That's it for setup.

When you're ready to tidy up the litter just snap off the top/enclosure, lift the sifting screen up and hold it over the stacked pans...shake the sifting screen (kind of like an archeologist sifting at a dig site)...the reusable litter will fall back into the top pan leaving the clumps in the sifting screen. Chuck the clumps. Place the sifting screen in the empty/bottom pan, then pour the sifted litter into the empty pan setup, restack, attach top/enclosure, and it's ready to use again!

Otherwise, there's only one issue I've noticed about the utility of this product that I wish were different: I wish the sifting screen had handles or some other mechanism that would make it easier to lift out of the pan.

[Note for those who care about the color of the box: When I ordered this item, the image displayed depicted the product as a viridian green. The color of the box I received was a chamoisee brown.]

Efficient & Economical

I am not going to say it is perfect, or could not be improved but sure beats using the old open kind. I find it easy to clean, no odors, and the cats love using it. Even kittens like their privacy. I am glad I bought it, and would buy again if I had to.

Best yet

Sifter is a good idea but you have to completely empty the pan to get it back to the bottom so that you can sift the next load. So I left the softer out and put the door on. We got it to keep litter of the floor. Our boy is messy.

My cats are little heathens and liked to perch on the side of their old litter box to use it which always ended with a toppled over mess. Not to mention they like to sling the litter like a bull about to charge. Bought this to not only to cut down on the mess but to make cleaning and maintaining easier on me. I love this product but it did arrive damaged. It arrived missing one of the clasps that secures the top to the base but honestly it's not a huge deal to me. Maybe that's why it was so cheap.

This didn't work well for me, but then I do have 3 cats. poop stuck to the sifter (climping litter), but I trashed it and used the 2 blue tubs and thats working great, so I'm happy! -Thanks!

This does not make cleaning easier. Scooping has far more control, you will spill litter everywhere. All the picking up and dumping litter around is not easier. Litter gets stuck in the grate so it's not a simple dump.
