Price

I have been using this sound card as a replacement for the onboard sound on my Acer desktop for about two weeks now. It's connected to a Klipsch 2.1 computer speaker system and everything sounds great. This was a cheaper and easier alternative to putting a sound card in the computer, especially since it is a very small, compact desktop. Other reviews have mentioned the bright blue blinking light on the top, and though it is annoying, it is easily covered up. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this external card again, especially at this price.

Works great with my Timat 7.1 gaming headphones.

This external USB sound capture card is similar to units costing a bit more but still offers the same features. Construction is good and driver installation was easy using Windows XP. I cannot comment on the more advanced features as I'm using this unit to capture a mono audio source using the line input. But, for what it does it works well for me.
I wouldn't hesitate buying another or recommending it to others.

Just what I needed....

Works perfectly; offers flexibility in accepting mic

This seems to be a quality sound card. I haven't used the surround sound outputs yet, but for stereo I am getting quality no static or lag sound in all applications thus far.

nice sound card

I am completely satisfied with the purchase of the Vantec USB External 7.1 Channel Audio Adapter. I use it mostly to modify the sound from my laptop to my speakers. The accompanying software gives me broad options on how I can modify the sound coming from my HP Windows 7 Computer to my external speakers. This unit also has an enormous amount of other features. Many of which I have yet to use. For such a low price, you get a way to modify the basic sound coming from your computer to a sound that is more appealing. Of course the quality of your external speakers influences the sound also.

I had no problem setting up the adapter and I was able to to use the unit almost immediately. I will experiment with the other functions once I have mastered the basics.

The sound from my computer will never be the same now that I have purchased the Vantec USB External 7.1 Channel Audio Adapter. I highly recommend the purchase of this item.

Definitely a buy item

Seems to make everything sound better. Many inputs and outputs for a less expensive audio adapter.

Blue light is kind of bright that flashes and is a little annoying in low lighting but that is easily covered up.

Allowed me to choose stereo mix recording which is one of the reasons I got this audio adapter.

Great external sound card for the price

I needed something after motherboard audio quit working. I am using UBUNTU 14.04 OS and updated OS after plugin and worked fine. I have not used 5.1 or 7.1 speakers but works great on 2.1 speakers, pumps out the sounds! BTW I updated Alsa-mixer when using Steam games. I like it so far and will recommend it to all whom may need it.

Sounds better than I imaged!

Works quite well with older versions of windows, but supplied driver disk does not load in windows 10.  Windows 10 loads its own drivers and only basic functions work.  Actually does the job I needed it to do, since all I needed was line input recording, which my laptop lacks.
