I fell in love with stealth games after the first game I've ever played, Tenchu. I've been playing Tenchu since it came out for the first Playstation and after that, I have yet to seen a stealth game like it. I saw got this game at a huuuge discount (not from here), so I thought, "Hey, it's a stealth game. Can't be too bad, worth a try, it's only 5 bucks." So I got it and was slightly excited, I love female protagonist characters and stealth is an added bonus plus a huge discount.
I played it and it has a pretty good story, a little bit confusing with some story points though. The gameplay....it's a stealth game alright. When you move, you can only do so much, in Tenchu, you can crouch turn around, walk, use your weapons or items, and roll. In this game, you can crouch, move, but nothing else. The movements are actually quite slow too, when she runs or crouches and walks, it's slow enough to always get you caught.
This is a patience game. You sit there, watch a person walk back and forth about 3 times, trust me, 3 minimum. You watch them once, and it's not like Tenchu where they walk the same place all the time and wait the same amount of time, sometimes the people in Velvet go slower, faster, wait less or longer.
They also have crazy peripherals and eyesight because I've gotten spotted in places that I usually wouldn't in Tenchu. In Tenchu, it's also easy to hurry up and run and kill the enemy even if they get alerted when you're near. In this game, you run half way to them and they see you then shoot at you. After 3 shots, you're pretty much dead.
So this is a game for someone that's amazingly patient, I'm not too patient, so for now, I've put it away until I'm in the mood to finish it.

Great stealth game with a couple of flaws.
