The item is styrofoam, therefore stiff.  It was packed in a box just large enough for it with no bubble wrap or other protective packaging.  The box arrived in very good shape, however the snowflake was cracked in two spots.  The deeper of the two was about a quarter inch deep.  The snowflake is over two inches thick, so the arm is still attached, but is certainly weaker for outdoor use.  I contacted the seller several times and was asked to send pictures.  I didn't hear back regarding the pictures so followed up again.  I was told that they had put in a claim to the carrier/shipping company  and that I should expect them to come inspect the item.  This was not a shipping issue, it was the seller's lack of care in preparing the snowflake for shipping.  I admit that I went ahead and applied glue to the item before I sent pictures, but the cracks are still visible.  I gave up with the seller and am going to try to fortify it so I can still use it.  So disappointed.  Side note.. the price has gone up $20 in the two weeks since I ordered it.  I cannot imagine spending over $50 for this item.
