I bought these to replace the 'old-fashioned' breakable bulbs that were discoloring after many years.  Difficult to find one style and color in a package on shelves in the store.  
I will use these next year but what I like is that the connector piece that attaches to the bulb is secured to the bulb so no more popping off pieces and they come with a nice thin gold cord so no more messing with the attachable metal hangers.  No more starting the bulbs with the hangers either.
