Simple to operate with clear instructions.

Can be clear and loud, but also distorted or quiet for some users.

I got this to hang on my wall which it does very well. The phone receiver attaches good and doesn't want to fall off. I like having a corded phone that doesn't get lost in the couch cushions. I always know where the phone is....hanging on the wall. 
Answering machine works good. All the buttons are easy to see. Everything makes sense.

The ringer is loud and all of the data is easy to read with the Caller I.D. An Answering Machine/
voice mail feature is included as is a speaker phone. I chose this item after checking several different phones similar to this one. Was originally seeking a phone that came in black but for the price and all of the bonuses offered with it it did not bother me that it was white. It is an AT & T
product and I am quite pleased with it.

Great corded Home phone

I love my new phone. It is easy to use, has a speakerphone, caller ID, and LED display. I just wish it had a block adjustment, but it does show spam risk calls so that is just as good.

Great and Simple.

I like the large font. It makes it easy to see who is calling. Also, since I got the phone the unwanted phone calls have stopped. I can't say that it's the phone but as I said since I got the phone I went from 3 to 4 unwanted calls to ZERO. That is the best thing about it

Phone

Pros:   I love that it comes with an AC adapter to power the caller I.D. and messaging.  Other phones use batteries that would have to be replaced quite often.  The large tiltable display has a back light that comes on automatically when the phone is in use or when a call is coming in.  The back light will shut off in approximately 20 seconds when the phone is not being used.  Large keypad numbers.  All the features on the phone are easy to use.  Comes with an instruction booklet.   The sound is like any standard phone.  It has a timer on the display that counts the seconds and minutes you are talking on the phone.  This is a good quality phone with a fair price.
Cons:  I have not found any problems with the phone.

Things I love about this phone:

Nice BIG buttons.
Like the various colors that illuminate with certain buttons such as "mute" and "speaker".
Like the integrated answering machine.
Like the display screen which can be tilted upward. A nice pleasant orange when illuminated.
Like how the time elapsed for a call is clearly displayed so I can tell when I have talked too much!
I use connected to a Voice over IP modem from my cable company and calls are nice and clear.
Speaker phone works great.
Ringer tone is nice and adjustable.

If you don't need the flexibility of a cordless phone, then this is a perfect choice.

The PERFECT all around corded phone.

...My previous AT&T model. This latest purchase was an upgrade based on the reviews that the speaker function was more than satisfactory. My previous AT&T phone was a simpler, basic phone similar to this one in the color black, which somehow showed up dings more easily; sort of a cheap look after a short while. I didn't appreciate the ugly greenish color backlighting of the display screen making it difficult to view nor the poor quality speaker functionality.
I'm SO, SO PLEASED with this upgraded purchase in the speaker quality, display screen clarity & backlit color, and the overall appearance.
Worth every extra dollar I paid for this one!

Better Than...

'tis a fine phone my laddies.
Specially good for us with rocks in the ears.

takes a bit to program

I initially ordered the stand-alone AT&T answering machine, model 1740, for about half the price of this phone/answering machine. I wasn't happy with that one at all. The sound quality of the recorded messages was terrible, so I returned it. Even though this one is the same brand, I decided to give it a try and kept my fingers crossed that it wouldn't have the same shortcoming. The sound quality on this one is considerably better, but still not as good as most of the other answering machines I've had in the past. It's adequate, I guess. At least I can understand what the caller is saying, unlike some of the messages I received on the model 1740. If not for the so-so recording quality, this phone would have been five stars, easily. It's got everything I could possibly ask for in a phone/answering machine, and more. The layout of the buttons is intuitive, all the features seem to work well, and it's a very attractive product. The phone even continues to work when the power is out, unlike my cordless phones. Overall, a good product for the price.

Attractive, lots of useful features

I like the big button and adjustable screen features very much, I don't have to put on glasses to see the caller ID. Unfortunately the unit I purchased was defective per AT&T product support tech that tested the phone and my line when it would not ring (great customer service) so I had to return this phone. I did buy a similar, but higher priced, AT&T phone with the same features and it is working great (it also came in black which I preferred).

Love the easy read features

Can not see the display while hanging on wall unless it is eye level and straight on. While on wall the display angles down making near impossible to see display.
Might be better if used on desk but did not buy it to us as a desk phone. Returned to store same day for refund.
