Replaced an old MyBook Live that was starting to have hardware issues. Workes great and the dashboard is easy to use. Only drawback is that WD has stoppes support of the Smartware software wich i used to backup the MyBook to a USB attached WD drive.  The USB BACKUPS APP is OK, but will not run on a schedule.

Great NAS

The device was easy to set up, and understandable with only a modicum of computer knowledge. I mostly wanted a local back up for my Mac. It promptly connected and began the process with minimal input once I identified the MyCloud as my preferred backup device. Its been working fine for several weeks now. Overall, this is a much easier device to use than my old MyBookLive. The app seems very intuitive as well.

Great For Mac

Overall I am happy with the performance of this drive, but I am very dissappointed that after upgrading to OS 5, I lost the support of WebDAV and the ability to connect to the drive without an internet connection. Two primary reasons I bought the drive in the first place. I am happy enough with WD that I'm choosing to keep it still, in hopes that they will update the firmware to include this in the future.

NO WebDAV support in OS 5! Don't upgrade yet!

This isn't a terrible NAS.  However it isn't as flexible and doesn't have as many features as my Synology NAS.  A big omission is the lack of WebDav support.  One strange thing is that RAW camera files don't always upload when using the browser interface.   Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.  I'm not sure what the issue is.

The app for cloud access works pretty well on iPadOS.  However, when using Safari for macOS to upload to the cloud, it doesn't support uploading a complete folder.  This works fine on a Chrome browser.

I also had a disk error when I was reconfiguring the RAID type. That wasn't too comforting, but a power cycle seemed to clear up the issue.

Decent NAS

The Install Procedure Needs More Helpful Information. This is the third WD NAS I have installed in my home. This current one replaced a MyCloud that has been operating for the past 8 years and started going out to lunch on occasion. The install procedure does a good job getting the NAS install and all, but there is all types of additional steps needed to make the device operational.

Great backup system

No matter what configuration settings used, the device would not connect to the network, nor would it authenticate me, despite having the correct credentials. I spent more than two hours on the phone with tech support, and despite our best efforts, was unable to get the device configured and operational.

Not a fan

This item is broken out of the box, and will not connect to ANY Network. Firmware upgrades, support sites will not fix the problems with this device. Avoid it at ALL COSTS

Do not Purchase

Waiting 3 weeks for support to assist with an RMA.
