I have 5 My Book external hard drives and this my 6th and 7th! I love them. I have had them for many many years and they are very reliable and easy to use. Price is great and I get good service too.

WD My Book

An amazing value and everything I expect in a desktop hard drive! All the other hard drives I own from WD (5), are still going strong too. That's why I keep coming back.

WD 6TB My Book Desktop

I have been using these units for 15+ years .I merge the data to a new one around every 5 years . I have only had one fail and recycled threw the website so far.  They are intended for long term storage of large files . It isn't a performance drive .

Great for mass storage of data .

Hard drive functions normally. Not much more to say. It'll serve it's purpose.

It's a hard drive

Just bought my 3rd Western Digital My Book, I have 2 4TB these external hard drives are excellent. One for my pc, and the other two for my Xbox I believe I payed either $80 or $90 for a 6TB.  4 years ago my 4tb was $150, so I was happy to find a new 6tb for under $100. Had great luck with WD My Book won't use any other brand tried others but none were to my liking.

Excellent for Xbox and Pc

Nice unit, has the space I need. It did have a technical glitch. It prevented my PC from starting up after a month of use. I unplugged the My Book from my tower and restarted it. That solved the glitch and then upon successful restart I plugged it back into my tower.

Great but has a solvable glitch

Solid WD product from a brand loyalist. The less-than-perfect rating is due to no status/activity light. I'm not sure why they skimped.

Bright idea? . . .

The Drive seems to work fine but the install on a MAC has issues.  Not clean at all.  I skipped the final steps as I couldn't get the extensions to install.  Appears to work fine with Timemachine so far

Not an easy install on MAC

I've transferred movies from my receiver to the hard drive and some of them disappeared completely after the transfer, and others don't show when viewed alphabetically. I can see up to titles that begin with “M”. If I view by “Recorded Date” I am able to see some that are further down on the alphabet. I have 3 of these hard drives and have the same problem with all of them.

A lot of memory, but very flawed

The product is fine but the buying experience was painful and would make me reconsider purchasing from Walmart.  Why do you have different prices online then in the stores and make customers work to get the item at the online price?  Most retailers honour the lowest price whether online or in the store.
