This drive is not everything I would like, I would love expansion ports on the front like Seagate offers, but WD is the reliability king. And if I am going to commit 14 tb of my data to a drive, reliability is the most important datapoint. These drives are usually at a substantial premium to Seagate's but the 14 tb was on sale for Christmas at a great price. I'm seeing 200Mb/s sustained which is twice the speed of the Seagate I have to compare it with. One thing missing is error checking software. I downloaded the western digital software but it specifically omits this drive line so my 4tb portable shows up, my 2TB m2280 internal shows up, but not this drive. Testing it with other drive software takes 28+ hours continuous which I can't devote to that.

I'm satisfied with the quality and long-term reliability this drive provides. Happy with the price I paid and the value I got!

HDD scan results are good. It took more than 26 hours to see if a load occurred during the scan.
The product is 7,200 rpm, so when used in nas, temperature management should be thoroughly carried out. Intermittently, unusual sounds occur, and it bothers me.

USB WD drive for Backups

I needed a trusted reliable external drive to backup all of my family's computers and devices. This drive has done a fantastic job.

Great value and quality

Good Value. Liitle slow in getting my orignal 4TB (many small files) onto it. I was tempted to open it and to connect the hardrive direclty to my PC SATA to speed that process up. Once setup up it works as my backup storage.  I think it may have an eco mode so the disc stops spining if not acceseed, so on first use after a while there can be a delay.

Good value does what is needed

Once I got the drive partitioned, and split into volumes for use with MacOS, the drive runs smoothly.
I did have some issues with the Mac Initially.  The Drive wouldn't mount.   After doing some research
I found out that I needed to try a different USB port.  Upon doing that - I was able to partition the drive.

Good amount of storage for the price. Fairly fast file transfers. I have another older version of this drive that has not had any corruption issues in the 3+ years I've used it. My one wish is that this could draw power through the USB like the WD passport drives, so I didn't have to deal with another power cable. At least the power cord has been trimmed down from the older version, so it doesn't overlap adjacent outlets on my power strip.

Overall I'm happy with multiple WD I've been using the only problem is they're very loud, and they are always working even if I'm not using them, they sometimes vibrate my desk lol

This is the most worrisome  wd hard drive I've  ever purchased. 
Can't  wait till large solid ssd drop to an affordable price point.(like they say don't  make them quality like they used to).

Excessive  noise (like plane taking off )

Noisy, clicking all the time..even when I'm not accessing it (is it communicating with the Cloud?). Sounds like the R/W heads are too close to the disk...
