It's just me and my son so we had to look up instructions on how to play with two people, but it is still so much fun. We've been playing it all night and all day. It's a good game to get you thinking and creative. Definitely a much-needed break from electronics..

I was thinking this game would be awesome and it is! Which means I'm right and apparently also awesome!

What was I thinking??!

This was a great game to introduce to my group. We all were laughing by the end of the session. (I was messaged by one of the players a few hours later that their chest still hurt from laughing) Quick rundown of game play: Two teams. One play on a team will see secret word. Looking at board, come up with a two word hint for the secret word. If team guesses correctly, mark two spots on board (matching the first letter of each clue word). Switch Teams and repeat. Repeat until one team has a straight line from side to side on the board. Harrah, that team wins. Final step. Challenge that team to a game of Lets Fight with Fake Swords. Repeat from step 1If you enjoy games like A Little Wordy, Code Names, Mysterium, or Decrypto, I would highly recommend What Were You Thinking as a game to add to the collection. The components are of good quality and (i believe) will hold up for many gaming sessions. Rules were easy to read and understand. (Please note, this game was by Exploding Kittens and not by Wizards of the Coast) ((But this game is better that the Wizards of the Coast version)

I don't know what I was thinking

After playing this for a couple of rounds, I can confidently say that this game is a great addition to family game night. With Co-op play it's a fun low-stakes version that can get everyone to understand the game fairly quickly, while Competitive mode slowly devolved into a chaotic scramble of who would win. All-in-all, this game brings family fun to the table!

We think it's great!

We play a lot of cut-throat games, so having one that is more peaceful and friendly was really nice. We played it cooperatively, which was a lovely change of pace compared to our normal game nights. It is an interesting way to see how well you know someone, because what you might think was a 100% chance of winning was very very wrong. Overall, this is a very enjoyable game that offers a lot of replay potential with the wide variety of words, and I'm very excited for any expansions with extra words or letter tiles (some people in the family want a Q tile, just for the chaos). It does have a fun competitive mode, but we would want a few more people to play that way.

A quick family friendly game

As a fairly smart family with a vast vocabulary, we were entertained by the clues given and the answers guessed. We found the game was played with the most success when groups were similar in age. Surprisingly our teammates were not able to read our minds. Such a simple game created never-ending laughter. After a few rounds of confused playing, we got the hang of it....who thought a Fluffy Dream would describe a Cloud!

Words Are Hard

This game was a blast. It's familiar, because there are games like bingo or password or heads up that some players may be familiar with - this takes familiar elements from those games and spins them up in a blender of delight. It's more challenging than you might think since you can't confer with your team mates. I especially like though that if there are three people - you can do cooperative play and still have a great time. I think this game will be a regular part of our “game night” rotation. Another great title by the fine folks at EK.

Great Party Game - Tons of Fun!!

What a fun game! I will admit, the first time we played we did not correctly follow the directions so we almost gave up BUT once we really understood how to play - we loved it! We first played with myself, my teen daughter and group of her friends. We had so many laughs playing this game. It was easy and challenging at the same time. I also played with my family (age range 10-49). We had just as much fun -- lots of competitiveness and creativity while playing. Highly recommend this game for all ages. Much more fun in larger groups of people. Definitely watch a quick video on how to play -- don't try to mess with the written directions. Also, the cards tend to be a bit "see through" so make so we made sure no one could cheat by peeking through the card! This game would be a great addition to a game night collection!

Great game for all ages!

I'll admit, I really wasn't sure what to expect for our playthrough (four players) of What Were You Thinking?, at first thinking based on the board and colors that it would be similar to Codenames. What we found was something that stands on its own with an interesting mix of word guessing but also...Bingo? Tic-tac-toe? Connect 4? It's hard to describe, but we all really dug the ability to "block" our opponents from scoring with clever clues!The co-op game mode was also a welcome addition for getting started, and makes it game playable with three players.The only thing I would ask for is a bit more clarity in the instructions for competitive mode - the idea of both guessing at the same time, guessers having eyes closed, and clue discussion openly took some getting used to. We didn't watch any videos on gameplay or anything though, which might have it easier to take things in!

A really fun mashup of classic word and board game mechanics!

Would personally rate this 4.5 stars. Played only the cooperative mode as of yet but it was a joy to experience. The components were all well-fitted and felt nice to the touch. A good amount of cards with endless variety - would take a millennia to get bored. Great experience rapping brains around the clever combination of words and letters to figure out the clue. One gripe is purely cosmetic, I wish the underside was green instead of a pale yellow, I believe it would make the game more vibrant but I understand the design choice. Overall very solid thought out game. 👌
