I painted my house twice , once in the 80s and again in the 90s with the original Wagner spray painter. That one disappeared in a move but it did a very decent job so when I decided to try again I read the reviews and even though I saw some bad ones - I tried the 590. Worked just fine. Its quieter and has less vibration than the older one. The spray pattern can be adjusted easily. Used it for my deck and porch also which I couldn't do with the old one. No problem when spraying level, up or down. Its so much easier to clean than old one too.

These sprayers have come a long way.

For those that have trouble with spray patterns, clogged tips, splattering and spitting paint.... THIN THE PAINT!

Wagner says you can spray latex and oil based paint right out of the can.... Good luck! Latex should be thinned in the hopper 3/4 paint. 1/4 water. Stir Stir Stir. Do multiple light coats.

I finished eight pre-hung primed interior doors and six closet bifolds in 30 minutes. Two coats each side semigloss. FANTASTIC RESULTS.

CLEAN UP A SNAP. Remember to use a bread bag tie to poke through the small vent tube hole on the upper side of the paint pick up each time.

I bought this sprayer to refinish 35 painted cabinet faces in a large kitchen remodel. I already owned an HVLP sprayer that I was not happy with from another manufacturer. My intent was to use the Ben Moore water based Advance enamel, a product that I have had very good luck with in this type of project. Before unpacking my new sprayer I checked in with the help line at both Ben Moore and at Wagner. Ben Moore advised only to thin if absolutely necessary with water and then no more than 8 ounces per gallon. Wagner advised to set the blower up to full speed at 8. I then set out on my project.
After a bit of trial and error I would like to share what I learned and how I obtained very good results with both the sprayer and the paint product. I fully diluted the paint with water as advised by Ben Moore and set the sprayer as advised by Wagner. I did all of my spraying with the door faces horizontal to avoid sagging. First of all, if you have never sprayed before you need to follow the instructions in the Wagner instructions about moving the sprayer evenly across the work.  There are a couple of additional things that you need to consider. You need to start the sprayer off the work until the blower is up to speed otherwise the first spray out the sprayer spatters because the air is not up to the proper pressure.  You can actually see this when you first hit the trigger. Keep the trigger down as you pass the sprayer back and forth across the work and you will avoid most spatters. Next, since the sprayer is only putting out a fine mist of paint you need to move the sprayer very slowly across the work in order to build up enough paint so that it levels as it dries. In the case of the Advance paint it means putting on a bunch of paint and you will be rewarded with a very smooth surface when it dries. It will not look smooth at first,  actually a little bad, but give it forty five minutes to dry and the finish comes out very nice. Also note that I used the fine finish tip.

Worked great with Ben Moore Advance!

Becoming a homeowner brought on a ton of new projects, many of which required painting.  I got this with the hope of painting 38 cabinet doors fairly quickly.  (Did them all in about 1hr total touch time)


A few things stood out.
1. It's surprisingly simple to use.  A chart is provided to help navigate different settings for different materials.  Assembly is a breeze.  Cleaning is much less obnoxious than straining brushes and rollers.

2.  The coverage is fantastic.  Painting the cabinets with one coat only used up about 1qt.  

3. After spraying the paint appeared to slightly orange peel, but it dried perfectly smooth.  I'd read a  few reviews about the orange peel, but I didn't experience it.

4. The only real knock I have is that the front end seems to get really warm, which makes me feel like I may be overdoing it.

All in all, love the gun and would highly recommend.

Love this thing!

I was very satisfied with this purchase. The only reason that I did not give it five stars was because of the inherent (I think) limitations of this type of sprayer. Things like having to refill the container several times and the thorough cleaning necessary. But that is part of the game.
Compared to sprayers that I 've owned in the past, this is leagues above them in terms of effectiveness and quality. I was able to completely prime and paint my sunroom about 2 hours (excluding the time need to mask and tape) and the finish was far better than what I would have been able to achieve with brush and roller.
My advice is: Follow the directions both in the users guide and on this forum. Pay particular attention to the instructions regarding partially depressing the trigger to speed up the turbine. Work perfectly.
You MAY have to perform an intermediate cleaning during your painting session if you are using thick latex paint. I think that if I had done this things would have been a lot cleaner.
Take the time to dismantle and reassemble the thing before you do your first painting session and you won't have any problem performing a quick interim cleaning of the nozzle.

Best sprayer of this type I've ever owned

I bought this to paint an interior room and the outside of my house. I primed the room with Kilz primer with no problem. I cleaned the sprayer and the next day started to spray the room with latex paint. The first two walls it sprayed okay, but halfway through the third wall without warning it started spitting out big globs of paint which ran down the wall. I cleaned the nozzle started spraying again and two minutes later it did the same thing again. The rest of the room continued on the same way. I guess I know why they included a spare nozzle in the kit.

I'm a retired body man, I've sprayed thousands of gallons of automotive paint, so I know my way around a paint gun, every one of my HVLP spray guns has a basket strainer on the material tube, perhaps this could benefit from one.

Now I will have to wait until it dries enough to sand the runs out, and roll it like I should have done in the first place. 

I will say that Walmart took it back with no problems.

This sprayer does not work longer than fifteen minutes. It works great, and then it starts to splatter everywhere. At this point you have to get a roller to smooth everything out, take 10-15 minutes to clean out the entire nozzle assembly, reassemble, and then you can spray again for about another fifteen minutes. The longer you use it, the less time you will have to spray before it splatters everywhere. I had to stop at some point on every wall of the bedroom I was painting. There are multiple other reviews and YouTube videos saying this exact thing, I wish I would have listened. And yes, I started the blower first and let it continue to blow after spraying, yes everything was assembled correctly, yes it was set to the right amount of air and material, yes I was using quality paint from SW, yes I cleaned the nozzle tip EVERY time I stopped spraying. Bottom line, there is a serious design flaw to this product. This is possibly the worst home improvement tool I have ever purchased.......

DO NOT BUY, POOR PRODUCT

I bought the sprayer not quite a year ago. Used it to paint one bedroom and it actually worked pretty well but needs cleaning constantly. Started second bedroom and motor is giving out and sounding like a grinder. I guess you get what you pay for...don't pay for this.
