I replaced a Badger 1/2 HP with this one. It's much smaller than the Badger. The EZ-Mount install was a piece of cake. I've had it installed for a little while now and it seems to function very well. I think its a bit quieter as well. The Badger lasted almost 10 years so if the Waste King lasts that long then I would say this was an excellent purchase.

Bought to Replace Insinkerator Badger 1 1/3 hp $97, Waste king 1/2 hp $65
Quieter. Less vibration. Electric cord is already attached. Badger 1 you have to attach (wire) the cord to the disposal. Badger large connection ring "ears'. Waste King 1/8 inch "projections" (nipples) to fit in ring grooves, still connected after 1 week. Badger 1 year in home, Waste King 2 year in home warranty.
This model not compatible with insinkerator connection and had to replace sink flange etc. EZ-mount is easy after you replace everything under the sink. All plumbing hooked back up as before.
MOST important part and a large full page sheet in instructions shows you is the "cushion mount' to the bottom lip of sink flange. If it done correctly you can see through the mount ring holes if you look at the mount ring holes and see the cushion mount then you have it wrong and the mounting "projections" will not go into mount ring slots.

Great for the Price

My old disposer is dead. I make my story short that I research my future disposer for several days. I couldn't find any attractive (both price & quality) one from Home Depot or Lowes web. I found a WASTE KING 1001 from Wal-Mart web. Yes...I love it !!! I enjoy to use and hear this motor sound every day.

Good Price , Great Machine!!!

We have been using it daily for about 2 weeks. It is quiet and small and is perfect for our small household.

Nice compact size

Great disposal for the money. Good horsepower; slender size does not take up much room under the sink; and is fairly quiet. Would definitely recommend this product.

Great Value

This disposal was one of the cheapest I could find. I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. It's not as loud as my old one and it's also smaller. It was also very easy to install and have had no problems with it thus far (one month since installation).

great price, great product

This garbage disposal is almost a half price from other brands, easy to install and the manufacturer gives a very long warranty. IT IS MADE IN USA! But it is noisy! I had to apply a rubberlike insulation spray under the kitchen sink to damper the noise. Why the grinding chamber is not made by stainless steel likes other brands?

This Waste King disposal probably will last a long time likes my previous Waste King disposal (lasted almost 30 years) and Walmart offers it at the lowest price, but other brands appear more modern and maybe quieter. To be fair, Waste King's more expensive models probably are quiet and with more bells and whistles.

It works and its low cost is great. It might be noisy!

Great value but old technology

Much smaller physical size than our old garbage disposal. 1/2 HP would be the minimum I would consider for family use (which is what this one is). We primarily rinse our plates and let that waste go into this disposal. I would consider that "light use" as opposed to people who attempt to dispose of everything possible down the garbage disposal. This one is good for light to moderate use but I would recommend a larger motor for heavy use. Installation was very easy. It was harder to get my old one out than it was to get this one in. The mounting is fool proof and well thought out. This is a great buy and perfect for what we needed.

Sturdy, Simple, and small

The disposal was as pictured. It arrived in a sealed box with all parts and instructions. The instructions were very clear an easy to follow. I installed it in an afternoon. It would take a plumber 30 mins to an hour to install I had to replace some of my drain pipes, but that had nothing to do with the disposal.

The shipping was better than promised.

Best Cheap disposal I could find.

Good price for a 1/2 hp model.
Avoid the 1/3 hp that don't do the job.
There is no wrench socket on the bottom to clear jambs.
They claim it doesn't jamb and you can clear it from the top.

Get the 1/2 hp

The disposal I received had parts in the instructions that were missing. I also ended up getting another disposal at Home Depot that was only $20 more expensive but was a unibody that didn't require assembling the parts and only involved hooking it up to the sink and plugging into an outlet.

Missing parts and there were better sink disposals
