Ease Of Application

Application is straightforward with a brush or roller.

Can be unclear, but often easy to follow.

These other comments should be ignored.
This is a sealer not a stain and should be applied very lightly. VERY lightly. It protects from graying and you don't have to scrap it. I've used it on decks and exterior walls. Decks will fade where heavy traffic is but other areas will be beautiful for two to three years. I've only used a brush myself. But will try paint pad in the video below. You will love the look

Love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I build cedar raised garden beds and herb planters. I use Thompson Waterseal clear wood sealer for all my projects. It brings out the natural beauty of cedar while giving it a long-term waterproof and UV proof coating.

Beautiful Finish

Looks like most negative reviews are from people not prepping properly or even at all before using this, there's instructions on how to prep wood BEFORE applying the sealer for a reason, if you do the prep/follow directions this sealer is fantastic, yall need to stop putting it on over chipped paint then acting like its the products fault.

Prep wood 1st, Bad reviews are mostly user error

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using Thompson since we installed our deck three years ago. The sealer is so easy to put on our deck! Seals great & dries fast! Lasts 12 months!

Thompson is the only deck sealer we trust! Great company!!

Water Sealer - Great Product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought 3 gallons for my small patio and fence. Used it on my parents 18' x 36' multi level deck. We do this once a year. Added my mother in laws deck with another gallon plus a neighbours 20x 24 deck for another gallon. You should sell it in 5 gallon pails.
A friend asked for help and was using Olympic and it was not even close. No penetration, terrible coverage.

Great product

We have a 10 year deck that has only been powerwashed and we decided to add some clear waterproofing. Nice thick viscosity, easy to use, applied it with behr stain pad which worked great. The pad was very useful and easy to run along the spot in between each board. Rain moves in Wednesday morning so fingers crossed 🤞.

Quick & easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Thompson clear wood sealer in my privacy fence. The pickets are for so I need a product that would make them last. I live in the coastal mountains, so a lot of weather conditions. It's been 5 years and the fence barely looks weathered. Getting ready to treat it again. Hopefully it
will last another five years.

Great product for the money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I HAVE USED THOMPSONS EVERY FEW YEARS SINCE I BUILT MY WOODEN DECK IN 1980; AND THE DECKING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION!

DECK SEALER

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We applied Thompson's Water Seal Advanced to our 1000 sq foot deck, built of Micro Pro Sienna treated wood , built in 2018. First we swept, vacuumed, spot sanded, carefully washed board by board with the hose and let dry our lovely blonde deck. To our horror and extreme disappointment, the Thompson's Water Seal Advanced Clear/Transparent has rendered our deck a horrible orange colour! Not at all what we expected and desire. Not only that- our deck is now extremely slippery! Furniture and shoes are sliding around on it . It is not safe. We are devastated. How do we ever get our beautiful light coloured, non slippery deck back?

Extremely Disappointed

Bought one can to make sure it was what I wanted. Started applying to my brand new fence; I was immediately disappointed. Not at all as pictured. What a waste of time and money. Really distraught with the disparity between pictures and reality. So wish I hadn't ever put it on my fence!

Not At All What Was Expected!

Waterproofer Plus Clear oil-based waterproofer for wood with clear finish, labeled for outdoor wood protection; helps fight UV rays and mildew damage and notes soap-and-water cleanup. Often used to seal outdoor furniture and wooden planters.
