I have an SST25 that I bought in late 2003. It looks absolutely identical to the SST25C and has the same specs. I believe they were about $50 back then. I used this every mow for about 4 seasons. Recently, I had someone cutting my grass; so... it sat for a couple of years. I went to start it up, and the fuel line fell apart. A quick trip to ace, $2, and 30 minutes of labor later, the fuel line was replaced. After about 3 pulls, it fired right back up. I've never changed the spark plug; always run about 50:1 mixture vice the recommended 40:1... never takes more than 4-5 pulls for perfect running.

The useful life rating on the sticker reads 50 hours. I've probably got 5 times that amount out of mine. My dad has a similar Weedeater; but 18cc. Its 10-12 years old. I replaced it's fuel line at the same time and BAM! It starts right up and runs perfectly as well.

Apparently Poulan and Weedeater are similar, as the manufacturer stick on the side of mine reads Poulan in a few places.

i bought this unit about a month ago. never in my 53 yrs have i spent a better 90 bucks. treat it with good gas, don't treat it like a rented mule and this unit will be worth every cent you pay. start by the directions and it starts easy every time. 2 concerns: the gas tank is a bit too small, and the coupleing shaft is a bit unsturdy. the coupleing swags a bit when you put it down. can be a bit more sturdy. but overall, this unit is a diamond in the rough, i love it and i cut 3 lawns a week. big lawns.

best product

I got this a few weeks ago, it is truely great, and lives up to my expectation (to a Weed Eater) that it starts every time. This 25cc featherlite engine is powerful, enough for my needs - maintaining a 0.4 acre front/back yard lawn, including trimming the sidewalk edges. The snap-n-go head works well on this machine. For normal use, the line lasts pretty long. I used two lines for trimming my 0.4 acre lawn. Of course it is different when you grind it against concrete blocks. I had a 33cc model with the same type of head, and found the line wears out too fast because of the over-powerful engine. My conclusion is that the 25cc engine is the correct match to the snap-n-go head. Highly recommended.

Great trimmer, STARTS EVERY TIME

Before I bought the SST25C at the local Walmart I read the reviews. One person said the line kept slipping out. That is true and is a fault. However, I overcome that by tying one knot in the center of the length of string and then placing it into the trimmer head. When the weeds pull at the string, the knot prevents it from pulling out of the machine. Now I can use .095, .080 or .065 grades of string. Also, if I am working along a hurricane fence or especially tough weeds, I use a shorter length of string and it doesn't break as easily or get caught in the fence. For the past two months the Feather Lite has started easily and performed well in light and heavy grass. That's why I give it a "FIVE."

Weed Eater is Wonderful

This weed trimmer is great! Even on my large yard. The only problem I had was it kicked up rocks a lot and it hurt my exposed legs. Then I read the review a few back and realized I should probably wear pants while I'm doing yard work. Probably better for the neighbors too. Good advice! Thanks!

Great item for the price

I bought mine a couple of months ago. It is light weight and easy to start. I have difficulty walking much and holding anything heavy, this is just right. I would recommend this to anyone. It can trim most anything at an idle.

Great weedeater

I've run this 6-8 times now and it works great. It has a lot more power than I expected. Most trimming I do at just an idle. Bulk line seems to last a lot longer than the samples that came with it (or I'm getting better at judging distances).

works great

Recently I purchased this from a Walmart store because I was in need of one. I read many reviews with different experiences with all brands and decided to go with this one. I will tell you that the hardest part with this was getting it out of the box. It was easily assembled, filled it with the proper mixture and with several pulls on the cord, off I went cutting. Read instructions on starting. I didn't and it would not start, but after doing it how the instructions stated, started right up. The power of this is incredible. Ripped thru thick patches of weeds like butter. I have a huge back yard and a decent size front and only used half the tank of gas. I also was able to angle it sideways and use it as an edger. Worked like a charm. Changing the string is easy and often. My advice is to buy better string than what comes with it (I had a spool of Weed Eater string with cutting edges, measured and cut it to the length of the supplied ones). By doing that I noticed the string lasted longer. My only cons with this are 1) it does kick up some rocks and dirt so wear pants and eye protection. the protector guard is not big enough to block everything that is tossed around. 2) the weight is an issue with larger area yards. Besides that, I would recommend this to everyone needing a weed wacker. Hope this helps!

Worked better than expected

This is a FIXED STRING trimmer - Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!

No bump. No feed...stop everything take out the old line, put in the new. It's an engineering reversal.
With everything going green, this thing will waste A Lot of string; about 1/2 of each pre-cut section :(

If you have a small garden or very small yard with minimal edging requirements, you might get by.

If you're replacing a "real" gas trimmer, you'll be seriously disappointed. If you're upgrading from an electric, you might be okay.

I took it back immediately & exchanged.

Buyer Beware

This is the worst piece of yard equipment I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. It's a piece of junk and would highly discourage ANYONE from purchasing one. The engine ran fine but the shaft would not stay connected and I could never get it to spin long enough to cut any grass. It's poorly designed and I will NEVER EVER buy a weedeater that comes in two parts again. Save yourself a lot of grief and get something else.
