We've used this several times. Easy to use; easy cleanup. Makes great popcorn: Just popcorn, oil and butter. None of the chemicals in the bagged varieties. Love it!

WHY would you ever eat microwave garbage popcorn? I ran my previous Stir Crazy into the ground so it was time for a new one. There's a couple of things I like even better about this one. First of all, the on/off switch is super helpful. Secondly the shape of the clear top/bowl stacks way better than the more rounded earlier design. The base sets down in it much better for storage, so the overall stacked height is less than it used to be. Makes great popcorn. The manual has some excellent flavor suggestions to try, both with different oils and with added spices and toppings.

Pure Joy

I think the product is great and it pops a lot more popcorn than a microwave bag of popcorn. The only thing I would caution you about is the guidelines in the instruction book are a little off. I tried the first time to use the measurements required and it was way too much popcorn.

Steeper sides and smaller heating surface results in more husks as the kernels grind around.  Also the steeper/deeper sides make it harder to reach the bottom without turning the bowl towards you.
The bigger issue is the now attached power cord.   It drags along when I clean/rinse the base and the design of the storage clip underneath does not allow the plug to be stored in the designed holder.  Much neater when the power cord was detachable so I could just put it inside the bowl with the stirrer and the lid.
The rubber feet are nice.   The power switch isn't really necessary.

This is my 3rd or 4th version over more than 20 years.  The large heating surface and the stirrer makes the difference for better popped corn.

Item has been used 8 times over 17 months.  NEver melted butter in it.  Always transferred popcorn to another bowl after popping.  Let cooled before  I washed it.   No children in house to damage.  And still the cover broke in two places.  And West Bend doesn't sell replacements.  Waste of $40.  We had one in the 70's and it cracked the same way.  Nothing has improved on this product.

Poor Quality

What happened to the Stir Crazy!?!? I've always loved my stir crazy and then it was broken in a move and I had to get the “new” model. It's the worst popcorn maker I've ever had! This picture was taken after 15 minutes! The rotating stirring arm is too high and just went right over the kernels so I had to shake the thing so the kernels  wouldn't burn. This is ridiculous. I threw it all away and made popcorn the old fashioned way on the stove. So disappointed!

Don't do it!

I got this to replace a different brand that finally died after about 10 years of making 4-5 batches one day a week. 
This new one  doesn't pop all the kernels. 
I had more unpopped kernels this week then I probably had in a month or more of using my old machine. Also the kernels did not pop as large. 
Would totally not recommend.  
It's going back this week and will be buying the other brand from Target.

Not a good popper

I bought this machine after a great ten year love affair with the same model. However, the new one had issues. The red lid never did fit on the bottom of the bowl. After one year of use, the entire center of the popper fell out and I had oil all over the kitchen floor and counter. Since it was just over a year old, the warranty was void. I see this type of experience consistently in the reviews - previous versions were much much better quality. Somewhere along the line, West Bend cut corners in manufacturing and now has an inferior product.

Damaged and not new. Can't give as gift

Owned my first stir crazy for over 25 years. I only replaced it because my kids bought me a new one for Father's Day because my first one had a broken cover handle. 
It popped fine for the first two times and now it won't pop more than a quarter of a bowl! What a piece of junk!
