My only complaint was the cost a year ago. this item cost half again as much as it does now 

otherwise it's easy to set up. looks to be quite dependable as most most Western digital items are

walmart.com

I am very pleased with my 4TB hard drive. I had worked as a private school teacher for about twenty years, so I had accumulated a great deal of educational materials along the way - including audio courses, an extensive Ebook library, and obviously video and music. The 4TB disk is my storage library - allowing me to retrieve and/or share materials with others at lightning speed - while leaving my 1TB hard disk freed for routine, daily business.
I highly recommend this product. And when it fills, buy another and lay it alongside. But most folks would probably not need more than 4TB to store their media.

Great/Perfect Media Storage at a fair price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am using this as an external hard drive for my PS5. I have a couple hundred games saved on this. The PS4 games run perfectly fine playing off this drive without having to move the game back to the internal drice. I recommend this product.

I was not informed by sales literature or WD website that this drive (part of the new series of drives) is not compatible with WD Smartware Backup software until I looked very deep into their website..  The replacement software (My Backup) will not install on any of my 5 computer systems.  It sucks.

Incompatible with WD Smartware!!!!!

never set a password but remains locked. Multiple people have the issue and no fix and data is encrypted. If you don't intend on setting a password, don't buy this.

data is inaccessible after one week

Extremely disappointed.  Couldn't even install after trying multiple times.  WD couldn't help so returned the device for a full refund.
