I love WD's higher end drives like the Blacks, Reds, and Purples (Greens and Blues are garbage). I pretty much use WD exclusively, except for SSD which I prefer Samsung Evo's . I have 2 Synology NAS' with WD Reds in Raid 5 arrays (4 drives each). one drive starts to die approximately every 3 years (IO errors with a few bad sectors). I just configured a new Synology RS820+ in raid 10 w/(4) 4tb WD Red pro drives. No problems at all. The drives were shipped in OEM boxes, within a bigger box. All nice and tidy. I then ordered another drive, as a spare, which was also nicely packaged. I went with red pro over regular red for the higher cache.

So far so good. It is a PMR disc which is better than SMR

Only time will tell, but these appear to be doing the job. I use them inside my Thunderbay 8 enclosure. I'm getting about 600MB/s write and 1500MB/s read with RAID 5. I bought the drives with the intention of letting them run pretty much constantly. I don't want to have to replace them for at least five years. We'll see, but so far so good.

Works in the NAS as it should but you have to do one step before you can add it to the RAID.  You need to remove all other HDD to format it, in the WD My Cloud EX4100, unless you have a stand alone setup to do so.  Once formatted, you're just a few button clicks away from getting it setup on you RAID.  Our last HDD was the same brand and size that lasted about 7 years at a usage rate of nearly 50 hours a week.

Works like it should. Previous drives lasted seven years before showing their age. Fast on a file server

Great quality

Dependable and robust. If you need it work at all times, then you need a Western Digital. My go to for NAS drives.

Fast and Big...Plenty of space for Video Raw files !

WD Red Pro

Very fast. Used an SDD for the Windows install and this for the programs and data.

An accurate review on these new drives is impossible.
The two purchased drives both arrived defective. 
Sent them both back the following day.
After purchasing over a hundred WD drives, this was a first.
I'm still going to continue purchasing WD drives.

A First For Me

All four drives were delivered in one box with deflated air pillows and just in there moisture pouches. All of the pouches were compromised from banging around in the delivery box. One drive would not boot and the other three showed bad sectors on first use. Asked for a refund the on day of delivery and it still has not been resolved.
