I have had several smaller plastic French fry cutters and they don't even compare to the Prago! When my last plastic cutter bit the dust, I decided to invest in a Prago. I am so glad I did. I can cut a basket of fries in no time. I found that I have to position the cutter at a right angle to my body to get enough power to cut the fries. I pull the handle with my right hand and push with my left hand on the front of the cutter. I use my fresh home grown russet potatoes and they are very firm. This seems to work for me. The rubber suction cups really hold it on my counter top. It doesn't move even when I am cutting one of those big potatoes!
The Prago cutter is very well built and I expect it will cut fries for me for a long time. I don't have to buy any more cheap plastic cutters! If you are thinking of buying a new French fry cutter but are hesitating because of the price, well don't hesitate. I wish I had done this years ago. You will love your Prago too!

I love my Prago French Fry Cutter!

Got it for my husband for a gift after he cut his fingers on another brand french fry cutter. We tried it and it works great. Your fingers are not anywhere near the cutting blade. One push and the potato was perfectly cut for fries. Be sure to tighten all screws on the unit. You will need a variety of wrenches to get them all tightened. Unit is a little heavy, but, the suction cups held the unit in place. Comes apart easily for cleaning. Great product, worth every penny!

Frech Fry cutter that actually works!

My only complaint would be how Walmart.com shipped the item to me in the original box instead of packing it in another box with bubble wrap or peanuts. Looking at the box, it was dropped pretty hard to damage the styrofoam inside but this item is a beast and very nicely made. No damage at all found on the fry cutter.

With first try, I cut up a 5 lb bag of potatoes in <10 minutes. Some of that was letting my 8 year old give a try. Well made product. Makes nice cuts and quick. I suggest planning the wall mount for stability. Mine did not completely cut through most potatoes with arm completely down, but it completes cut when the next potato is cut - so just kept loading and down and up with the arm. Kept a 24 qt catch pan with salt water below.

This is a solid, quality machine. It works well, although it does require considerable strength to push the handle in order to cut the potato. It helps to soak the potato in water for a few minutes before cutting. It requires a good amount of storage space as well. It is easy to set up, wash and put back together.

A solid product

Bought this a a gift for my husband. He loved it. It only comes with one size blade so if your wanting to make smaller size fries you'll have to purchase that separately.

Restaurant quality

This is a good cutter but the blades do seem a little too weak. We use it to cut fries for our concessions business if we run out of the frozen ones and I did 50 pounds of potatos with it so far and it seems to be working good just make sure you keep it lubed with some type of food grade lubrication.

Great product

This is great if you like shoe string russet potato fries. Wish it came with a larger cut blade. I originally ordered this to make baked sweet potato fries. Blade isn't sharp enough to cut through dense sweet potatoes. =[

Not for sweet potatoes

I really don't know how many stars to give this .
When the package arrived it was the most horrible smelling ,wet,damp and moldy box ever seen. It appeared to have been in a flooded, damp basement  for years. The directions were all moldy and mildewed.  I wanted  to send it back but my husband wanted to keep it.
So we threw out the box and all the wrappers and book. 
The stainless steel cutter works great after a good cleaning and disinfecting.  It is a bit heavy and bulky, hard to store in cupboards so we ended up storing it under a bed.
So great product, but the worst seller ever, cannot remember who it was, although it was ordered from Walmart.

This unit is a good value for the money. It is very well-built, and certainly does the job as advertised. The problem is that it really is for commercial use. It's HUGE! It also difficult to clean unless you have a large commercial sink. I would stay away from this unless you have a family of 10 or more. Otherwise, just grab a knife and have at it.

Well-built, and REALLY big!

I see some reviewers say "It cuts the potato like butter" but either they're bodybuilders or I'm real weak because I put over 20 pound pressure on the lever and the potato only went in 1/8"!
This thing is big, heavy and takes up 2 feet of space. It's made in strong quality but the borders-metal on the blade holes are not sharp to cut through the potato so you have to put 40-50 pounds pressure on the lever to get 50 thick blades into a potato which is pain. Als o the suction cups are worthless as usual and you need to drill this vertically on the side of a strong cabinet low enough that you can apply your weight over the lever handle. They need to install sharper, knifelike blade on this, right now the blades look thick like back of the knife!
