It offers great cooling capacity while still being quiet enough to operate in a living space. This is my second unit and I recommend it to others looking for a good quality portable air conditioner.

I have been wanting a portable air conditioner for a long time now and while doing research for the best one, Whynter always popped up. I was not sure about getting it because at the time it was $500. Then recently I saw it went to down to $430. I still had doubts but the reviews and available videos helped me decide to get it. Setting up was very easy and straightforward with the youtube video I watched from UTECHPIA. The only setback was I had to trim one of the window panels. Machine moves around nicely, is quiet, and controls on unit and remote are simple to use. I use it in my master bedroom and the temperature in there is perfect now. It also does it in a great timeframe. I love it! I am very happy with my purchase.

A great purchase

This is the best portable AC unit I have ever had the pleasures to use. It's not loud,, i cant even hear it in the room beside it. It cools amazing, down to 61 degrees F. Easy setup with provided window piece. It plugged and played and was off cooling in no time. You will have to purchase some foam sticky sided weather stripping to really seal it up. This also doubles as a cooling unit in my RV van. Great buy and definitely worth the money.

I'm delighted with my purchase. If you're looking for a powerful, efficient, and easy-to-use portable AC, I would definitely recommend the Whynter ARC-14S. It's worth every penny, and I can't imagine going through summer without this product.

powerful, efficient, and easy-to-use portable AC

The air conditioner is not easy to assemble. I had to get the window adjuster cut because it was too long for my window. But it does cool down a 600 sq ft living room only when there is a thermal curtain.

I definitely recommend this Portable AC, installation was easy and it keeps the area its in within a degree or 2 of the temperature it is set to! One of the best portable ACs i have ever owned! 10/10 would recommend!

This is very effective, even in 100 degree weather. It is easy to operate and the remote control is a great feature. My window is apparently not short enough for one panel but not big enough for two, so I had to cut one of the panels. It was doable for me as a middle-aged female, but I have tools. We are using this in a medium -sized bedroom, and it cools great.

Would definitely recommend

I've only had my Whynter portable AC for a day, and I'm already impressed with how well it cools. It is consistent and powerful — no complaints there whatsoever.

That said, getting it set up was genuinely a bit of a project. The instructions could be clearer, and there's more fussing around with venting and connections than I expected out of the box. If you're not particularly handy, budget some extra time and patience for the initial install.

Once everything was dialed in though? No regrets. It cools my space quickly and quietly, and the setup headache is already a distant memory. If you can stomach a slightly rocky start, the Whynter earns its keep.

Whynter ARC-14S

I have another Whynter portable AC unit and one thing that is missing on this one, is an indicator of the current room temperature. Granted, my other model only showed it in fan mode and dehumidifying mode, but you could at least determine it.  I would also like the fan to shut off soon after the AC shuts down - I do not want the fan running when it is not needed. I have had my other unit for several years. the hoses did deteriorate and started falling apart (duct taped them together this season), but the unit functions without issue. I am hoping this unit brings years of satisfactory service. Another difficlty is that it comes with an additional piece for wide or vertical installations, but no way to adjust to different sizes and it is too thick to 'trim' If you have a smaller to medium window, you may need to rig up something to fill the gap (the packing material did come in handy!) Be aware that there is a minimum space requirement - not just the unit but the space for the hoses, and moving it to a space not directly from the window will require more space because the hoses are large and need to be a distance away from the wall to make the bend.

not perfect but good

I purchased one of these a year ago and it stopped working after three months of Use. I'm trying again because I don't see a better option out there and I'm hoping this time will go better. It's not that hard to set up, it's not that loud, and it does a decent job of cooling the space. I didn't have any problems with it until it stopped working! Beware that after two months while it may still be under warranty, you have to pay for shipping of an 80 pound machine back to headquarters for it to be repaired. So it's easier to just buy a new one.
