I just have to say, we've had a lot of portable AC's, many brands and styles, some really expensive high-end brands that lasted one and a half seasons, some that lasted a few seasons, but this AC is really superior... Our first what I call "Mr. Whynter", I can't remember exactly when we bought the 1st one, but it was 10 to 12 years ago at least, it's finally on it's last breaths... :O just amazing!

I really didn't want to go back to the biannual hunt for another inferior brand again, so I decided to search and was SO happy when I found this exact one was still available for purchase...

If you want an AC that will last you more than 2-3 seasons, this is the one! I will add though, for it to work efficiently you NEED to go to Home Depot and buy an air deflector to deflect the air more downward, if you don't, you lose a lot of the cold air into the ceiling, especially if you have high ceilings like we do!

*The Frost King HD7 really changes the whole ballgame for efficiency! I highly recommend this AC!

The best portable AC on the market

walmart.com

Have a room in the basement that has no windows, it has poor ventilation and tends to get hot due to nearby pipes in the walls. I set this unit up one room over where there is a ventable window, and within a day the temperature had dropped 6 degrees in the room next door. The ac needed to cool the room it was in, a large windowless basement room, and a the windowless room I intended to cool in the first place. It is cooling a larger space than says on the box. Haven't tried the heating option yet, but so far I'm satisfied with this units performance.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchases this product after carefully doing some research, and I'm not disappointed. This double hose feature provides an added layer of air purification and quality. I now able to enjoy my space in the absent, while also eliminating humidity and keeping it cool as summer starts to creep.

Great double hose feature

whynter.com

Very nice unit. The sound level is impressive as it is less noisy than my other portable air conditioner that is only 10,000 btu. I have not tried the heat because it is 105*F outside right now. I have it cooling my 2 car garage (All walls are insulated including the ceiling and garage door.) Right now it is 102*F outside and my garage is 75.4*F according to my thermometer and I have the unit set for 76*F. I would definitely recommend this unit!

The Whynter ARC-14SH is FANTASTIC!

super easy to install, and the instructions were easy to understand. this unit got me through the hottest August in Texas history. I can't wait to see what it does during the winter.

10/10 would buy again.

June was hottest June in New Mexico since 60s we were told. We have 18 foot ceilings in our living room -- the AC was easy to install and we use it almost every day. We may buy a smaller one for the bedrooms but for now it cools us and is quik about doing so if we've had it off for awhile.

great for high ceilings

I purchased this some months back and to be honest, I didn't want to evaluate it until the heat of the summer was upon us here. I had my doubts about how effective the unit would perform given the flow of air shoots upward and it gets really hot here..110's are not out of the question. It's cooling approx. 400 sq ft of living space, basically like an apartment setup, bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom, and it so far has been wonderful. It keeps things comfortable during the day, runs quieter than the unit I replaced with it and at night, it literally gets cold! It was very easy to set up. I definitely recommend this unit.

Pleasantly suprised... Works very well!

Although this air conditioning unit spews out cool air; the hoses won't stay connected at all. I've tried to keep them connected. Then I had several other individuals try as well. My last unit didn't have this issue.

Hard to keep the hoses connected

It works, but that's about it. The worst engineering design ever. Who is dumb enough to out the drain outlet wayyyy at the bottom and at the back of the unit. Draining water requires acrobatic maneuvers, not to mention messy. Even the bucket they sell is a freaking joke. Build in a water container that can be removable! Or high enough you can drain via hose. Or in the front. As an engineer, I'm sooooo irritated with the design. Wish I could return it. Lastly, it's very loud. Can't really have it on in same room and expect to sleep.

Junk, one of the two purchased...the electric plug / cord fried and burnt out the wall outlet. Pretty sure I can't trust the 2nd one .
