After scraping, stripping, and sanding off about eight layers of paint, we discovered some gorgeous Oak wood grains. We chose to use Minwax Dark Walnut Penetrating Stain as our final refinish produt and we are so glad we did. Easy application and an absolutely beautiful finish! We can't wait to try more Minwax products!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I applied the original oil based Minwax penetrating oil based stain in Golden oak on stripped oak planks that are over 60 years old.  The stain was applied with a high quality polyester bristle brush for applying stain and a  lot of hand rubbing after allowing the stain to penetrate for about 10 mins.  Wow,  it looks great!!

Beautifully highlights the natural oak woodgrain!

Is as advertised. The stain dries quickly, the color is accurate and saturates the wood. Very easy to use. I applied the stain with one of those little foam black sponges on a dowel.

Color is perfect for my antique spindle chair perfectly!   I  applied the stain with a soft cotton T-shirt rag.  Maybe it's because the wood is so hard, but the stain has taken days to dry.   After the second day I wiped the chair down with another dry, soft rag.  All ok…beautiful

A perfect match for a homemade basket!

Worked well to stain my sons replacement drawers when the fabric ones ripped through.  Smells strong but was easy to use, covered nicely, color I needed, and cleaned fairly easily.

The stain came out darker than I expected, but it still looks very nice. It works well with pre-stain and was very easy to apply, which I really liked. The color itself is great. I do wish the description showed how it looks on different types of wood, especially pine. Also, the container is very small.

Nice Color, Runs Darker Than Expected

The color it stained my counter was about 5x darker than than what the pic on label shows.  Thank god I did only a small area to see how it would look!
