Although I have only used this compactor about 5 hours, it seems to work just fine. I appreciate the wheels for moving it around the yard, it would be difficult to move otherwise. Buying this was a much better idea than renting a machine for $100 per day since I need it for a few months yet.

Plate compactor works well, better than renting.

Just received this little monster today, and the first impression was worrisome. The shipping box had been taped together and had seen better days. I was almost afraid to open it up to see what could be wrong, and last thing I wanted to do was return it because it's HEAVY. Luckily it was all intact and no damage present. 

The machine itself is surprisingly heavy for it's size and well built. It took all of 20 minutes to unbox, attach the two bolts for the handle, then attach(the absolute best part of the machine)...the retractable wheels. Next up was unwrapping the throttle cable which was slightly difficult to unwind and pull over the exhaust, once unwound you attach it to the handle, tighten one screw...and boom! all done. Just top it off with some gas, grab the included funnel(nice add) and oil and you're good to go. Not only is it a good looking, well built piece of compacting art....it even started on the first pull and I was off to the races.

THE RUNDOWN 
PROS: easy to assemble, well built, GREAT price, great features, oil and funnel included, easy to operate, performed its job well, compact, easy to maneuver 

CONS: instructions could be better, I'm not a fan of the handle system and wish it would lock in place, the throttle cable is long and could easily get caught on something and needs to be attached to the handle, the throttle itself needed to be tightened every few minutes or the vibrations would cause it to move out of "full" position(keep a Phillips screwdriver on you while running the compactor) 

COMPLAINTS: only one....I REALLY, REALLY wish that they would have included the detachable pad. It's an additional $50 and will take time to ship out(I need it tomorrow)


SUMMARY: like the title says "A compact compactor that compacts completely" Its worth every penny and has introduced me to Yardmax products. Highly  recommend if your looking for a plate compactor

A Compact Compactor That Compacts Completely

Product arrived on time.  Packaging was intact.  All contents looks clean.  The bottle of oil, although sealed, leaked a little staining the packaging foam. and bottom of carton.  Installation was easy.  Fired up with one pull.  Did a trial run and looks OK.  Will find out true effectiveness and durability after I use it on my paving project.
I bought this instead of renting because  rental will cost me twice as much given the large area I have to pave.

Good product at a reasonable price.

Compactor seems suitable for the DIY/homeowner.  It is suited for small jobs and home use.  It requires some assembly, my unit was received without required bolts, nuts, and washers to assemble the handle.  The shipping box was heavily damaged and repaired with tape, but the unit seemed to be in acceptable condition.  After a trip to Lowes, gasoline, and oil (included) it cranked on the second pull.  Tried the Walmart page to try to get the hardware that probably was lost during shipment (fell out of the box).  The WM customer page was not friendly...was not able to request lost hardware replacement and I did not want to return the unit  just to get the bolts.  If I were ordering again, I would look to a different seller.

Yardmax YC1160

Yard max YC1160 is a good product. Shipping is another thing.  Box was delivered torn open, upside down and oil leaking.  Walmart needs to do some QA on who is delivering there merchandise.

Bad delivery

It works great but the company really needs to change how they ship this product. They need to ship it in a mini wooden crate or super strong, industrial strength box because the unit is very heavy and when it arrived at my house the box was completely wide open and torn down one side (please see pictures). It's obvious that the company is trying to strengthen the current shipping box by putting 2 pieces of cut lumber on the inside of either side of the box, but that does not work!! Amazingly, the compactor was only missing one bolt when it arrived and my husband was able to replace that easily. The compactor works great though, despite the condition that it arrived in.

Arrived as a mess but works great

Works very well for the purpose. Handle folds for storage but does not have a secure latch in 
the unfolded position.  Wheels are difficult to lock in up position. Starts easy and speed control works well. Overall a good machine for the homeowner. Engine appears to be the Chinese Predator brand.

Yardmax TC1160

The Machine looks to be very nice.  The way it was packaged was poor. all the assembly nuts an bolts were missing.  At some point it must have been on its side because the exciter oil was all over the box and the level was low.
Had I not checked the exciter would have been ruined in a short time.  
Finished the assembly and filled the unit with the required oil it started and runs nicely.   Time will tell how it holds up.
If any one was listening, I would tell them to fix the way it is boxed and add a dip stick to tell how much oil is in the exciter.

It would have a better rating if the box was bette

The unit was sent without any throttle control wire, and the folding push handle is missing the pins to lock it in place, so it just folds forward when you push on it.  I'm very displeased.
