[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replacement reel for Zebco Spincast.  Durability of recent Zebco closed-face spinning reels is disappointing at best (broken: gear teeth, trigger buttons, trigger button mounts, etc.)  Because the replacement reels cost less than individual lures I would still recommend for casual fisherman who want an easy to use starter reel for friends/family.

The reel comes pre-spooled, which is super convenient, and it casts surprisingly smooth for its price point. Retrieval is decent and consistent—just don't expect high-end performance for heavy-duty fishing. It's best suited for light to medium freshwater action like panfish, trout, or small bass.

Solid Beginner Reel with Classic Zebco Reliability

I have used a Zebco 202 reel for more than 40 years. I put it on a short rod and keep it in my car trunk. I fish around boat launche in parks for Perch and Rock Bass. The 202 has never failed me.  Great little reel for catch and release and strong enough for a 10 pound Channel Cat. If you adjust the drag right. Fun reel to keep handy.

Fun and reliable

i bought a few of these for my wife to use and for our backup poles and they have functioned very well.   she gets hung up a lot fishing with a bobber so i just wanted a cheap reel that WORKED without constant issues.   these are fantastic.   i can cast these very far.   they reel very slowly and make noise but haven't given me any issues or snagging.   will buy forever.

I do like that it works good , at least for a year, then it seems to not function as well.. but will enjoy this for aleast a great yr.

Usually reliable for fishing

I haven't used this new reel yet, but my other one like this one has worked like a gem.  Zebco is a good make.

We use these at a U-Fish. The reels get thousands of casts and catch hundreds of fish.  If the real breaks throw it away and get another one. Cheap and easy.

Hours of Use

This rail is great for small kids who are just learning how to fish the only thing I do not like about it. The line that comes with it is junk. You have to replace it right away. Otherwise I haven't had too much problems yet. We'll see.

crap.. every 2 months i have it goes bad and stops reeling in line.
