This reel has been the best one i have owned, by far the smoothest to cast and reel. The thumb trigger has a positive feel and i can confidently cast with one hand and not worry about my thumb slipping. I owned my first one for a year as a brook fishing reel before i bought a second one for my lake fishing combo. Neither one has ever had any problems. For the money this reel is a incredible buy.

Surpassed my expectations

I own 5 rhino reels and 5 rhino rods, only reason I ever need to replace them is when I lose 1 one in the river. It is nice to make them right or left handed. taken them to many states fishing for cats, carp, northerns. WE have used them for years.

Top notch

I got this with the rod and reel combo. It is the best reel I had ever had. It works like a dream best reel I ever had!

Have never been a fan of Zebco which makes this reel but liked technical features for the price so I bought one anyway. It retrieves smoothly and cast very well for me. The line release push button is a little awkward because of it's low profile design. Would probably work well for a younger person or a lady with a shorter thumb. Just takes a little getting used to for a man with big hands. I have it mounted on a spincast rod with a pistol grip handle (which you can't find anymore anyway) but I suspect it would be more comfortable if mounted on a spinning rod with a straight handle which would place the button a little further from the rod. Overall I am pleased with my purchase.

good real for the money

I can't vouch for other individuals ability to cast a spincaster but these reels work fine. Very soild for a spincaster in a era of really cheap plastic reels. Use this for bank fishing primarily, catfish, saugeye, etc. Casts well enough, and the drag functions well enough to handle larger catfish. Paid $30 which is really cheap considering the performance. I've paid $200+ for lots of baitcasters in which case I would have much higher expectations.

Solid performance for a spincaster.

I got this reel Thinking it was close to the rhino RSC3-BX just a few dollars less But to my surprise Its Not. The line as read in reviews does somehow tangle itself up in the inner top with no clue how it gets in there. I replaced the line only to loose money on that as well do to that got tangled also and had to be cut. it seems it don't matter what line this reel will mess it up. And only half the body is metal the hole back side is plastic If you want A great reel try the Rhino RSC3-BX its just 4 dollars more and its all metal and works better then any reel ive fished with That's why I thought this reel would be good.

What happened

I bought this over the winter. I was looking for better quality than the lower priced reels, the look was good, and I bought it. This spring I went to set up my rod, and realized instantly the reel was defective straight out of the package. The line release won't work, and the handle turns only with brute force. I contacted Rhino directly as I was shocked that a product was defective out of the package and wanted to see what to do. After I got my response back that they need the receipt despite having the package, and a mint condition unused defective reel I was not happy. I was shocked that they are the same company as Zebco which makes reels that last for life times. I am a avid fisherman and have a number of excellent rods and reels, Rhino is off my list of all products at this point. If you go ahead and purchase one, you honestly have a decent percentage from what I have read up on others reviews from many sites of the reel not working out of the package just like me. Good Luck!

DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Bought this to replace a 30 year old Zebco because the line retrievers wore down. I had nothing but casting jams, even after replacing all the line with 14 lb mono I had left. It would catch and bounce the bait at me, hooked me once, or it would go a bit further out before jamming and the bait would go on it's own to where I wanted, of course no help. Do not waste your money on this real!

Don't waste your money!

Problem right out of the box. Line tangled in upper part of reel. Back lashed and tangled almost daily. Worked on the reel every day I used it. Replace the line but still having problems. Got it for a gift on father' day. Don't waste your time or money.
