The second you push one of the buttons, Rocky starts moving and spinning in this direction or that, not knowing where he is going to go. It keep him occupied for a while watching him navigate down the hall and works well on carpet and tile.

I already have a request to get another Zhu Zhu so they can "play."

Purchased Rocky the Zhu Zhu pet for my 2 year old son as a gift for Christmas. He hasn't received it yet but I know that when he does- he will absolutely love it! My sister now 15 years old, was obsessed with these as a young girl; I didn't realize they were even still around. Rocky is bright and suitable for a boy with his super cute yellow body and blue rockstar hair. Can't wait to see the joy it brings to my child face when he sees this little guy go!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Rocky is a Zhu Zhu pet that my family quite enjoys for a number of reasons. Rocky is well designed, and he is quite cute with his hamster like looks, with a rock star flair of hair up top. With 3 children all aged 7 and under, Rocky keeps all entertained  with his delightful noises and ability to maneuver the different types of flooring in our house. Rocky runs easily over wood and tile. He also moves over thin mats with ease. Rocky is simple to understand even for my just turned 3 year old. There are two buttons that are on the back of Rocky, the one on the head when pushed, makes him squeal with delight. The other button on his back allows him to start to move, and move he does. He's able to even run on his side because of the placement of the wheels. As a parent, I am ecstatic at the ease at which I can change the batteries. Not all toys allow easy access to the battery compartment, but this one definitely does.

Rocky Zhu Zhu Pet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon opening the box, the boys were super excited to play with it. With bated breath, they waited for me to read them the instructions to explain how to operate it in all its different modes. Once educated, we put Rocky on dance mode and we all laughed at the dance moves Rocky put up and then saying here we go when he started exploring. I see a lot of dancing and chasing rocky around for the foreseeable future!

On a learning curve note, instructions were easy to understand, the buttons were easy to find and press and the fun factor was through the roof as soon as it was out of the box.

A hit right out of the box!

We've had several sets of Zhu Zhu before, but this new one has much more bold colors and hair top. We didn't get the Zhu Zhu Pets Play House so it's running freely around the house. Time away from screen is always helpful and building their imagination.  How fitting that we got Rocky who loves outdoors like we us Scouters.  The care that came with it gave the kids a chance to read and to know more about their new Pet.

Let's get rockin'

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son was so excited when he saw Rocky in his box.  When we opened it he loved the blue hair.  He thought it made Rocky look cool.  I was happy that the Zhu Zhu pet came with a sticker on the side warning not to get the pet near hair.  We had Zhu Zhu pets with my daughters previously to this and we had the unfortunate experience of having a pet get caught in our youngest daughter's hair.
Rocky comes with four different modes: Explore, Nurture, Dance and Sleep.  In Explore mode, Rocky randomly moved around and made little coos and singing.  Rocky was able to avoid walls and obstacles so well my son said he seemed to know the house. 
So far the pet has been a hit and my son even put Rocky on the bedside table when he went to bed.

Loved the blue hair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toy hamster is very entertaining for our 4 year old.  He was a bit apprehensive at first because he'd never seen such a toy and didn't know what to think when it came towards him.  He learned quickly that it was a cute harmless toy and we all get a kick out of the little noises it makes.  Each day he plays more and more with it.  It is equally entertaining to watch our two cats react to this toy hamster.

Rocky Zhu Zhu

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 7 year old loves this toy. Right from the moment I gave it to him, he couldn't wait to open the package and see what it was about. 

I like that it came with batteries already installed. 

It makes lots of funny little noises which we found pretty entertaining. When you push the button on its head, it begins making sounds that continue for a while. I can see how this will become annoying for parents in time, but the kiddo loves it. 

When placed on the floor, you can push a button on its back and it scoots about on the floor in unpredictable patterns. It's pretty cute! It did run under the furniture because it's so little. So that was a bit annoying. 

It doesn't have an on/off switch, which is something that all adults in this household agree is unfortunate. 

Overall, I'd say it's a good purchase because of the amount of time my kiddo has spent playing with it.

Zhu zhu pets

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to be honest, when the Zhu Zhu Pet arrived I was a little concerned, this Bright Luminescent Yellow Furry Creature with Spiky Blue hair wasn't quite what I was expecting; My Wife and I played with the Zhu Zhu Pet for a little while just to get an idea of what was on offer from this Toy. You can pet it on its head (by activating a small button under the hair), and it purrs and squeaks to you, then you can place it on the ground and bring it to life by pressing the Tattoo button on it's back. The Zhu Zhu Pet then comes to life, zooming around like a real Hamster, if it touches a wall or piece of furniture with it's nose it backs up, turns around and heads off in a different direction. If you hold the Tattoo button down for 4-5 seconds the Hamster goes into a secret Dance Mode, and Body Pops/Dances around in circles along to a Dance Beat, which is pretty funny.
The Zhu Zhu Pet works very well on flat surfaces and is quite fast, I found it even works on a more rugged surface, like a dense carpet or rug. My Wife and I spent maybe 5-10 mins 'Playing' and then the novelty wore off, we weren't sure if our son would take to it at all, and thought he would get bored too.
However, when we showed it to our Son our concerns were washed away. He though it was Great!
He's nearly 5 so it didn't take him long to work out the buttons and functions on 'Rocky'. Within 10 mins he'd already found a cardboard box for Rocky's House, grabbed some of my wifes clothing for bedding (see attached photo), and made a dish of food for Rocky (Chia Seeds and Sunflower Seeds). He spent a good hour playing with Rocky before he got distracted and found something else to play with. I thought that might be it, but no, everyday my son checks on Rocky, brings him out to play for a while, then puts him to bed until the next day. I'm quite surprised at the attention my son gives it, but its like he's taking care of a real pet, which for us is a positive thing to considerer the future.
The garish colors only added to the attraction.
As an adult I feel that there's not enough functionality or features, but it's for Kids and my Son loves it so it gets a Thumbs up.

A Rocky Start...but Smooth Finish!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had the opportunity to give our almost 5 year old son the Rocky Zhu Zhu Pet this past week.  He was so excited to see this cute little hamster, and spent a good chunk of time playing with it and learning what to do with it.  If he pushes Rocky's back, for example, Rocky will start moving.  All day long, he was excited about Rocky.  But...that excitement waned a bit the next day, and even more the next.  He still takes Rocky out once in a while, and if I ask him about it, he happily goes and gets it and plays with it- in fact, he's playing with it right now!  But, the toy did not hold his attention like I had hoped it would.  There are definitely pros and cons about this toy.  On the pros side, it's cute, it does a few "tricks" when the right spot on him is pushed, and he makes some cute sounds.  Alternatively, he has some flaws.  He often needs to have his wheels cleaned out due to hair and other dust getting into it, and he does not hold my son's attention like I would have thought he would.  But overall, this has been a fun little toy for him to play with.  I might even consider getting him a hamster wheel to give Rocky a little more interest.
