The toy at the top is attached by a little wooden peg which my kitten can bat it out of the hole it fits into and lost it on the first day. That is the attraction and my other cats won't have a thing I can do with now until I can locate it!

My cat will scratch it for treats, but so far not just because he loves it.  The toy is dangerous.  The elastic broke into pieces and the bell, very dangerous, also came off.  Dangerous for the cats and especially dangerous if you have small children.
If you remove the toy, the post is OK - it is a good height for larger cats.
