I have used this in two different homes, two different utility companies and can still say i am just as happy as day one. The app was super easy, and pairing it with the alexa was pretty straightforward as well. That being said, I wrongly assumed installing it would be difficult,  but after texting the ecobee support and a few photos later, we were in business.  As for comfort settings,  I have had to play with the numbers, but it works for what I'm wanting. All in all, I am very pleased with it, its saving money and the support was amazing! I definitely recommend!

Been 4yrs with Eco 3 lite , once the hiccups were figured out its been awesome . Customer support has been fantastic. Can monitor from trips, work , if your wfi goes down it continues your patterns.  Sends a monthly email of savings compared to other users.  Adds up now, especially when AC runs.
Do your research on how it works, your competence on installing and troubleshooting. Like all IOT units there is a learning curve, once passed its smooth sailing.

With Ecobee for two years now coming from a Google home thermostat. Owning a Ecobee lite thermostat. Ecobee is probably one of the most featured thermostat. It does have the ability to extend heating cycle with specified timing to dissipate the heat accumulated in the ducts. Also it can serve as an home alarm system. Good and reliable product.

With Ecobee for two years now

This is our first smart thermostat and we are enjoying it a lot, so far. This replaced the thermostat that has been in the house, since the 90s. 

Installation instructions were pretty straightforward. One thing that I was not expecting to be an issue is our whole house humidifier. The installation of that tied into our furnace really made the wiring different. Luckily, after following the wires around, I found that our “G” wire was capped at the humidifier and wasn't being used. So I untwisted it from the furnace side and plugged it in. Viola! Works perfectly. 

My wife got the thermostat for free from her work's health benefits plan, so it was a no brainer to upgrade to this. I will say though, after some more time playing with this and seeing how well it's going to work for us, we'll probably upgrade to the premium one. There is a lot more that I'd like to do with it. 

Can't argue with free though.

Fantastic so far!

I received this thermostat with my solar installation. I set it up through the easy steps, but it configured as a heat pump, not a furnace. I used the support chat and Rick walked me through troubleshooting the problem. He could see my system and saw that one wire needed to be moved.Viola! Problem solved and system working great. You can buy with confidence that it will work out right.

Great thermostat, but even better support!

Bought this thermostat as we wanted to be able to remotely monitor our home and integrate it into a smart home system. However the problem is that it's never connected to our wifii. We have asked for support previously and none of the fixes work or if they do it's only for a short period of time. I will not be purchasing this product again and will find an alternative product.

Always Disconnected from the app

This thermostat has two major flaws! One with how it functions and one with INCREDIBLY deceptive business practices.

Functionality - The thermostat CANNOT be placed in a room with airflow or a fan. Any airflow on the device, like a ceiling fan, will cause it to read wildly inaccurate temperatures. If you have any sort of airflow near this thermostat it WILL NOT function correctly. I verified the room temperature with three separate external thermometers. All read within 1 degree of each other and the ecobee varied up to 6 degrees too high or too low. The solution was to use their extra room sensor and place it near the thermostat. The room sensors are not affected by air flow.

Deceptive Business Practices - This is by far the worst part of dealing with ecobee. They have a feature called eco+ that will take control of your thermostat and "save you money" by basically raising/lower or turning off your AC or heat. They advertise that eco+ is optional, but it IS NOT OPTIONAL! They've forced users to enable eco+ when you open the app and lie, saying it can be disabled, but it cannot be fully disabled according to dozens of complaints online. They even get your location information and enroll you in energy saving programs through your utility provider! Where we live the temperature is regularly over 100 degrees, often closer to 110 degrees, and the utility company allows people to volunteer to have their power shutoff to save money. So on the hottest days you lose power and sit in a 100 degree house. Ecobee sells this is a feature and forces you to enroll!

Customer service refused to help me with the issue. After a dozen emails back and forth with them they would not help me. It was either I stop using the app or enable their eco+ feature giving control of my home over to them. They've essentially held my house hostage. It is completely unethical and at the minimum a violation of their own terms of service which state eco+ enrollment is voluntary. IT IS NOT VOLUNTARY! I will absolutely NEVER use another ecobee product.

READ BEFORE YOU BUY!

TDLR: To anyone considering buying an EcoBee 3 lite. Avoid this product, I was a user for over a year. Moved to a new house that had an existing EcoBee. Unit failed, caused HVAC damage. Issue was resolve for $$$. I didn't even mind that. However EcoBee does not stand by their 3 year warranty claims. Buy anything else. 


I had around 6k worth of repairs I needed to have done on my HVAC system due to a Short. They were unable to determine if the EcoBee caused the short or was part of the damage from a short. 

I attempt to get my EcoBee replaced with their three year warranty. Because my Work authorization doesn't say the thermostat was the issue they refuse to honor the warranty. 

I would avoid this product at all cost and go with another brand of smart thermostat. I used them for a year at my old place. Personally loved it and had a great experience. However now that this new Ecobee at my new home caused such an issue and they refuse to standby their Product. 

I really suggest you stay away and do not buy this product unless you want to risk damaging your HVAC systems and the company refusing to standby their product. 

I have an open BBB compliant, and Customer service case.  They just do not care about their customers.

Fake 3 year warranty - Do not buy Ecobee

Setup was easy and I was initially encouraged.  From the start, though, it couldn't read a constant temperature.  As compared to my reference thermometer, the ecobee temperature reading was erratic and so temperature control was terrible.  I'd go upstairs one day and the temp was 73 F, when the ecobee thought it was controlling at 77.  Two hours later with the same set point temp was 81F.  Tech support only offered to sent a remote temperature sensor, not to fix or replace the device.  I've gone back to the dumb thermostat that can measure a consistent temp.

Looks good but doesn't work

Wifi partially worked for three days.  Only worked if you reset the wifi each day.  Then the wifi completely quit working.  Without the wifi it is useless as a smart technology.  you can't connect to the phone from your phone to monitor the temperature or adjust the temperature.
