So, I took a trip to my local Canadian drug store yesterday to restock on liquid eyeliner and took a moment to look at some of the cheaper brands up close, when the cosmetician came up to me and showed me to a bin of heavily discounted makeups, including a variety of liquid eyeliners by Annabelle. I figured if I could find a black liquid liner in the bin, I would try that instead of my usual brand. Well, after digging for some time and finding many white, gold, and silver liquid liners, I finally found a black one! Excited about my find, I quickly gathered the handful of products I had chosen and walked on over to the cash, not stopping to take a closer look at the liner until after I had paid. I saw that I had, in fact, grabbed this "Eyeink bubble" liner that I had never heard of before, and it had an interesting design for "dots and lines" advertised on the tube. Weird, I thought, but I figured if its advertised as being able to do lines it must be somehow superior to regular felt or brush tips, and dots are fun, right?

Wrong.

I got home much later than I had expected to and wasn't going to do my makeup just to take it off for bed, so I waited until this morning to try it out. Luckily I have nowhere to be today, because the amount of time and effort it took to do my usual eyeliner look was more than double what it normally takes, and I definitely would've been late to any obligations if I had any. I started with lining my upper lid, and found that my usual way to hold my liquid liner - with the tip parallel to my lid - didn't put enough pressure on the felt tip to get any product to flow out of it. But, no biggie, if I held it with the tip directly towards my lid, it worked! However, when I moved on to draw my wings, I realized that it was impossible even with this new technique to get enough pressure behind the tip to draw a line at all. While I'm not 15 with suer tight skin around my eyes, usually I can draw a line without pulling my lid taught, but I had to in order to get anything to show up at all. Everyone in the beauty industry should know this is not ideal for the delicate skin around the eyes, and shouldn't be a requirement to get product to show up. After I finally got the shape of my wings to show up, it was time to attempt to fill them in - and I thought drawing straight lines was difficult. It was impossible to get product out of the tip without pressing down so hard as to create splotches of liner that I had to shape with a makeup wipe, and even with the product splotching everywhere, the actual amount of it coming out was so small and thin. I had grey, streaky wings, and not the sharp black wings I wanted! I had to use my black pencil liner to get my wings dark enough. On top of all these issues, when I decided to see if it could at least do some fun dots, they came out as either splotches or wouldn't show up at all. Before trying it on my face, I did manage to draw some straight lines and consistent dots that came out nice and dark on the tight skin on the back of my hand, but not only was the tip not stiff enough to perform well on looser eyelid skin, it also struggled with my concealer and powder. It picked up more of those products than it deposited on my face, and now it wont even show up properly on my hand.

I have literally never tried a worse performing liquid liner than this, and I was using liquid liners before pen style liquid liners were really a thing. Eyeliner should be able to handle being placed on top of face products, and the product should at least flow out of it consistently when its brand new. Also, you shouldn't have to pull your lid taught to use a liquid liner. I have never felt compelled to write a review for drug store makeup before, but I feel like I had to warn others to stay away from this garbage.
