Note: The Onboard Controller does have a TB limit, works with a 1TB, 2TB, but not a 8TB drive. The seller is not responsible for how the drive is designed, don't take out frustrations on them.

The pros:
It does work like it is supposed to.
It is reasonably easy to put together and even comes with a screwdriver.(though I had no need for it)
The power switch is nice to have but probably not necessary.
The aluminum case is nice and feels plenty sturdy.

The Cons:
It uses a USB-A to A cord that is way too short to be practical (only 16 inches) and it will not work on a USB extension cord or a USB hub, neither powered or un-powered. So you have to keep the drive very close to your computer.
The ends are rounded and there is no stand, so it has to sit flat (wasting a lot of real estate on your computer desk.
It would have been nice to put it up on the shelf out of the way next to my other external, but of course the USB is too short anyway.
The power cord is also too short (only 35 inches) and uses an old style adapter. It is fine if you have the end of your power strip open for use. It takes up three plug spaces otherwise. I also don't care much for the bright blue light on the adapter, but a little piece of electrical tape easily fixes that.

Ideally an external drive enclosure should have a minimum of 48 inch power cord and a minimum of 36 inch USB. The USB should be a standard USB-A to B or even C, not a USB-A to A, so if people need to place it farther away they can get a longer standard USB cord, use hubs, or use extensions to do the job.

Overall it works, but I probably wouldn't buy another one.
